The last few weeks our boy Stumpy wasn't feeling so good. He acted like he was in a lot of pain and just wasn't active as normal. 2 weeks ago we took him to the vet and they said his blood count was low and took an x-ray. They said his ribcage was swollen and things just looked to full in there. He was to go in for a scope today and after seeing this  they ended up having to cut him wide open. 1/10 of his weight was this huge tumor  :P Anyway it went smooth but he is 12 years old and has to stay for a couple days to make sure he is gonna be ok. He is like on of our kids and thought I would share.

After the surgery he was himself for a couple weeks....well evidently the tumor was cancerous. The last 2 weeks he has started acting like he was before the surgery. A few shots again today, now we just gotta figure out when to put him down  :'(

I kept thinking that my dog didn't deserve to suffer and had to make the same decision a couple years ago. Man, this was the toughest call I ever made. They become part of the family you can't say goodbye :'(
Keep strong !

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I figure when he doesn't acknowlege us when we come home it's time. When we are gone and come home he runs and greets us. He also enjoys going for a ride. When I grab the keys and he just lays there we will know. I just can't put him down now since he is showing some will to live. It is costing us for him to live but like others have said - Dogs are like family.
