Dan,
Nice job on your bride's car!!  Now she can drive one while you drive your red one to the shows.  Good to see you back on the board - hope all is going well for you.  Eric has been working on the Sunburst Yellow 68 Charger down in Las Vegas - it is coming along great - has a few more things to do to it, but it is coming together.  I think the last time you saw it, it was in primer gray.  Sure miss hanging out with you guys up there.

Carl

Hey Carl
Nice to hear from you, boy it has been along time. The last post I saw from you last year, was your
cars stacked in the garage. Now Eric is in Vagas  :o :o  wow that is a change, is he loving it out there?
I am glad Eric had time to paint the car, for awhile there he was to busy with life   :yesnod: :yesnod:

Yeah, its great having the wife's car pretty close to done. The problem is its nicer than the red car that's
for sure  :yesnod:  my paint is ten years old with lots of miles, and a single stage paint, I have not
had it buffed in 7yrs, now its time to try and keep up with the wife's car, so buff time

That Looks beautiful. Fwitw, I would leave the stripe off, my 68 R/T is also a stripe delete car...

472 R/T SE

I never mentioned my thoughts on the stripe.

Since it's overwhelmingly stock I'd keep it that way.  Maybe mention it somewhere on your show bill board that you resisted the urge to stripe it?  :shruggy:

My purple car was stripe delete too, but that's an awful lot of purple to not be broken up.  Doesn't matter though since both my cars' are clones.

DROOOOOLING ON THIS AND ON DAN'S WIFE CAR!!!

I need a mix of both... Tan roof, R/T stripe, and the AMAZING Dan's Charger interior. Even better if being an SE on a 69, although is hard to choose between 68, 69 or 70, but I have allway toward to 69s.

Love your wifes car Dan.! I love it as is but a white bumble bee stripe would really set it off.

I agree. Maybe you can have someone Photoshop it so you can see what it will look like.
There are a couple of quite talented people on here that should be able to do that for you.

BTW, I love seeing survivor type cars.

Dan, I have very similar damage to the leading edge of the fender as yours had.  Did you replace or repair?

I really wanted to retain the original fender, so I talked the body guy into fixing that one, he was
not happy with me at all   :pity:

Thanks, your car looks great. I need to ask you if your front bumper bumperetts are original to your car?

I replaced the bumper and left the ones on it that were on the bumper I bought. I believe the bumper was from a '69. I have the correct '68 ones I took off of the original bumper put up somewhere around here.

I noticed the left side valve cover is the same as a C body with wire clips on them, is that the factory cover or has it been changed?
Mine is the same and I don't know if some B body's slipped through with C body valve covers on them.

When you say left side do you mean passenger side? If so, yes, those bendable wire clips are correct for a 68.

The driver side, it has the tabs for the spark plug wire.

Okay, I have a suggestion here. Seeing on how the car has a white roof and the color of the main body. Why wouldn't a white stripe work? it would fit the car very well and look very nice as well.

The first pictures of the engine, do have the spark plug wire tabs on the drivers side. I put
that valve cover on for years before I was able to get another correct valve cover in sweet
shape. The original cover had a dent in it, right above the baffle, hard to get to, to fix it.

So in the next pictures of the engine, it has the correct valve cover.

Six years later this is where we are. Still working on the odd things here and there, these cars are never done.

The JJ1 Gold is looking better than new, I know a lot of people on this site hate this color, but I have had
four this color since 1980, I like it.

Since my last pictures of this car, we pulled the engine trans and the suspension. I decided not to go through
the engine, it has 108k on it, runs great, no smoke no noise, so I just put all new gaskets in it and new valve
seals. Trans was fine as well just changed the filter, then painted everything before going back in.

I did not want to go through the engine and trany, because they are the original numbers matching units, and
they perform great, every item on this engine is original. Just spent over $400 getting the carb done, it looks
better than new. My wife is happy, since its her car, that's what counts to keep a happy house

I also asked what you guys thought about the stripe. Well we went with it as you can see, most people are happy we did.

I also had a spare set of seats redone with new Legendary covers and new foam. The original seats were way to nice to
take apart, no rips, just some fading.
