1966 Dodge Charger 383 CI

Ford already has a new/old Retro 69 Shelby Mustang.

I saw it at SEMA, this thing is too cool.

Common Stuart, I'd buy one in a second.

Maybe I'm becoming a more of a ford fan these days.  :scratchchin:

Got to admit Ford has been doing alot right in the last 5 years.

This picture is from a real 69 GT500, the new one looks almost dead on.

I like the shelby, now if chrysler could do a little to the challenger or a new charger and get it in the mid 20's on price

Just 6T9 CHGR

Chris' '69 Charger R/T

sorry if i am a cynic or a pessimist, but chrysler / fiat really doesnt give a shit about what we want.  they will produce what will make them money, and fulfilling middle (and later) something men's dreams and fantasies wont make them the money they want.

so.. piss on them.  I got my chargers.. this new chrysler (or fiat), can kiss my red, white and blue ass.

:iagree:   At least ford has some good innovation and American retro styling.

I would buy it only if they named it something else.
Charger name ends 36 or so years ago, and "fudging" it up now doesn't make too much sense to me.
Car makes need to move, making these body styles from the 60s and 70s doesnt make sense!
Driving a 10 challenger doesn't make you look cool, you look like a poser.
By the way, I'm waiting form my freakin flying car still!!!!

One thing you have to give Ford credit for is the fact that they never dropped their pony car, while GM killed the Camaro and chrysler killed the Challenger. The original Challenger had a very short run which some people forget 70-74

Porsche has been making a 911 variant of some kind since the muscle era.

Levi's still sells 501 bluejeans.

I don't find anything inherently goofy about car brands doing modern examples of 40yo products.  But it does go over better when it's an uninterrupted 40-year run and the years in the middle are unique parts of the legacy too.

And still others forget about the late '70s/early '80s Challengers.

Pimping a name in hope isn't an isolated thing for the car makers.  The Mustang II, the late 80's Nova.

I don't think anyone has pushed it to its most embarrassing extreme more than Chrysler though, especially during the past 3-4 years. Rumble Bee, Super Bee, Daytona (cars and trucks), Power Wagon, Charger, etc.

Ghoste

No, but then again IMO, they had a larger and greater legacy to mine.

that new "gt500" makes me want to  :puke:  I have never seen such a hodgepodge mismatch.  from the beltline down it's perfect. up top it's as bad an abortion as you will ever see.

the hood is all wrong and the roofline is all wrong. I think the hood needs to be flatter, not look like a quansit hut from ww2.  I don't know how to fix that roof line though... it's 100% wrong for that old mustang body kit.

Then get the convertible.

Such an example would be my cousins new 2010 gt-500 (which my uncle bought for him of course, being 15 and having a gt-500 as your first car... some people have all the luck).  :shruggy:

Daimler F-ed up Chrysler.

Ford "retros" the '05 Mustang ant it SELLS LIKE CRAZY.  Daimler had their chance, they could have made a Charger instead of reissuing the Coronet. They then release a cool retro Challenger YEARS later...

2008 I was waiting for the '09 Challenger to hit the dealers, it was delayed so I waited and waited and waited... went and bought a new Mustang...

After watching Chrysler over the last few years I would not buy anything from them now.
