Fuel tank install, should I use tar paper on top of the tank? or just let it ride metal on metal :eek2:?

motorcitydak

If you have the equipment, weld the cowl back on. Ive noticed that they can warp a little and it would be hard to clamp it down alll around while the adhesive hardens. While you have it off, make sure you take care of any dents and rust under there while you have the access.

Use the paper above the tank. It is good insulation from vibrations that could wear a hole in the tank or cause an annoying rattle. Also maybe sure to paint the tank so it will not rust out.

Alot of negativity towards spray paint here. I understand where it's coming from, but I will probably end up using Canned paint on my engine bay, and interior plastic.

The guy in this thread did an AMAZING job with it,

The negativity is largely justified but the thing to keep in mind is that in this case, it isn't meant to be a permanent finish just a temporary protective one.

how long are the bolts that the straps go to?

Anyone else think that mabey he is doing this on purpose? I don't think he has any intention of building his car right or painting it right, a 69 R/T SE come on! Sell it to someone else and take that money and find a regular charger the way you want it all ready done. You have a rare car there and you would be money ahead if you just listen! There are people on this site that don't even have a car yet and to listen to you demolish your car is insulting. Sell the car and stay in the jeep with the dudes! I don't think you really have a 69 R/T SE. Post a pic.

You know....I know you don't like the color combo BUT....it does sound like a rare combo...something to think about....you may have a 1 of a handfull like it. Something to think about in the future. :scratchchin:

 :eek2:  Yellow with a green top,green int.
Maybe it's rare but I don't think I could learn to like that combo.
I would really be thinking about a F3 or F5 or white exterior .
Anyone have that combo to post a pic?

drifter69

Sorry Miller Time was in a bad mood. Its none of my buisness anyway. Drifter

Thanks everyone,
That color combo though, only it was 1 of 3 or less and since it can never match numbers it makes even less of a difference.
I can always change it back, but why drive somthing fugly when it's a bad car and I want to show it off?
And really who would buy a non numbers matching fugly car vs a non number matching awsome looking car for the same price?
Just saying

I was finally able to get my pictures up. I wanted to post these pics here to show just what the epoxy primer looks like when it fully cures. It actually looks really nice and has a nice shine to it.

Help!
I put in the fuel tank and the filler neck is about 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch to far back!, I tried kicking the seam with my soul to push it back but no luck, can not drop the tanks, to hard to put up!
Thanks!
