So I don't care for her music at all, but everyone seems to think she's really cute/hot. Really? I don't think so. In fact, from the right (or wrong?) angles, she's got that odd "inbred retard" look. (disregard the drag queen on the left)

I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but seriously. Take away the make up, put her in overalls and a straw hat, and you have the banjo playing kid from deliverance

That's weird...in the top left pic she looks like drag queen.  Those two pics do NOT look like the same person at all.

Not trying to read too much into this next pic...but it does illustrate her stupidity just by simply posing for it.

I take it you obviously dont listen to country. I see nothing wrong with the way she looks or her music. And as Ive heard other people put it about that pic- She took pics with over 100 people that night. She didnt look at what everyone was wearing. And why dont people worry about what that dumbass in the pic was wearing??? He is the one that should get his ass kicked over the photo.

Old Moparz

I'm not a country music fan, but I did notice that over the years the newer stuff seems to be "overly polished" & has much less of a country sound to it. I think of Hank Williams & Johnny Cash when someone mentions country music. Seeing video footage of the new stuff on occasion, if you have the sound off you'd think all the lights & explosions on stage were from a KISS show or something.   :shruggy:

As for Taylor, I think you're off just a tad Ponch. She is way better looking than banjo boy.

I obviously do. But like Old Moparz alluded...I listen to the real stuff  -  Johnny, Waylon, Merle, David Alan Coe, and for the newer stuff - Jamey Johnson, Shooter Jennings. Not that saccharine coated, overly polished, assembly line produced mainstream junk.

And TS does look like banjo boy. Don't get me wrong, I'd still throw a bag over her head and hit it like Jeter hitting a homer in the 9th...

I like her music it definitely has country roots but her more popular songs are kind of poppy and rockish. I bet most teenagers listen to her music and like it, its good stuff. She also has a whole lot of talent.

The progression of country music is no different than any other genre. Look how rap was in the 80's. It was pop enough to be on the credits of most every comedy movie. Now, its all ho's, guns, drugs and murder.

Rock is WAAAAY different now than the 60-70's. If it even still exists. Pretty much has turned into alternative rock. And im referring to new bands, not old ones still touring.

In my opinion, Country is closer to the original than anything else out there. Except classical. That never changes.

Orange_Crush

Okay, first, Taylor swift is not country music.  The last country music singer that got any airplay whatsoever was George Strait.  In order to hear real country music nowadays, you have to listen to the underground stuff.

The shit they play on the radio is just that...shit.  And not even warm, fresh shit...rather it is the kind of shit that has been sitting in the yard for about a week and has turned white and crumbly and lost its smell...that's right, today's "country" music doesn't even have enough personality to stink!  Its pop music wearing a hat.  Thanks to "singers" like Garth Brooks and Brooks and Dunn and Shania Twain, and whoever that ghey looking dude is that is tapping Nicole Kidman right now as well as all their corporate whore colleagues...the only way that I can hear real country music is to listen to college stations.

As far as Taylor Swift is concerned...I'm completely fed up with hearing about her skinny, no-talent ass.  The only time I'll ever be interested in seeing her is if she is taking part in a lesbian three-way with Britney Spears and the chick who plays Joan on Mad Men.

I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.

And you obviously don't listen to rap. It's not all ho's, guns, drugs, and murder. That was like 15 years ago. The hard stuff is mostly underground. Now it's all "shorty got low" and "make it rain" and other nonsense.   It's all generic and meant for mass consumption - like pop country.

O_C - if you have Sirius/XM, check out the outlaw country channel. they play some good shit on there - even the DAC underground stuff.

I don't get it either. Before I knew who she was I heard all the hype and buildup and when I finally saw her and heard her sing I thought there must have been some mistake, or I was seeing some amateur doing an impression of a professional. Boy, what a joke on me. I guess maybe people got tired of Miley Stinking Cyrus and wanted to see a fresh face with the same low-quality sound.

There is a very cool new(er) country act though if you're into real classic country music: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=120274118

I let my sirius sub. lapse.  I need to re-subscribe.

One more endorsement for Sirius Satellite Radio...corporate-owned-and-programmed Infinity Broadcasting garbage radio can shove it up their collective asses...

Outlaw Country Ch. 63, Willie's Place Ch. 64, Prime Country Ch. 61, Roadhouse Ch. 62, Bluegrass Junction Ch. 65...I defy you to find 1% of the content on those channels on terrestrial radio...and that's just country...(not "new" country, either...from Hank Sr. to David Allan Coe to George Strait...something for everyone)

Unfortunately if/when Howard leaves at the end of next year, I'm probably gonna cancel my subscriptions (I have 3) or maybe just keep the one in the car. That's if SiriusXM even stays in business for long after that. They've been pissing me off with the rate increases due to some BS fees - my monthly subs went from $20 to $25 and my quarterly went from $25 to $30 - and when they made us start paying a separate fee to listen online.

This was my first Taylor Swift experience: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gh6WKvQaCK4

I didn't realize Joe Elliot was such a good singer until Swift brutalized this song.

Mike DC

Taylor Swift is a mass-marketed young blond female pop singer, with a nice clean small town girl image, and singing overplayed radio love songs.

Given THAT baseline description, I find her way more tolerable than average.
