correct balljoint?

I bought moog balljoint #719 for the lower joint on a 73 Charger. They are suposed to be threaded.

Stange looking treads. I was expecting to see heavy duty threads . these look like they are rounded off.  :shruggy:

Is this normal?

The "thread" on ball joints is nearly a misnomer.  To be fair though, the portion of the control arm that they are threading into is barely grabbing them anyway.  That is why it is so important to properly remove and install them with the correct tools, you can strip threads in a heartbeat.

I trouble finding the correct tool so I ground a 2in socket to fit.

Can you start the joints in by hand once you clean up the control arms?
