Hey guys, another little update, today i got the cowl off, and found a few more rusty spots. Pictures to follow. In the second picture there is an arrow, I cut from the arrow towards the outside of the car to remove some rust that was in the pinch welds... Once I cut it off i started thinking (bad news I know...) would it work to shave that pinch weld, such as some one would shave the drip rails. Just thought it would clean things up a little once the cowl is on. Does anyone see any issues with this?
Enjoy

This was stamped on the bottom of the original cowl

perhaps you mentioned it before, but may i ask how are you going to mount the fenders and hood now that the inner fenders are gone? or will you put them back?  :scratchchin:

The mounting points for the fenders are still there, along with the hood hinge mounts. I'll be building some sort of inner fenders to add bracing, but not real sure what it'll be just yet.

if i was in that position, i would wait until i had my engine, and other junk installed first, then build inner fenders with ample room for servicing and maintenance :scratchchin:

yup, that's the plan. I've got the engine and everything else in the shop, just needs to go in once the majority of the welding is done.

Had another day off today. Got some rusty metal cut out and removed, welded in some new stuff. Here's the pictures, had some pretty nasty stuff...

Ended up using some pretty thick stuff for the lower part, the part with 2 7/8.  Had to make the top piece out of 2 pieces, couldn't get the bend just right...

Well, I've been working, but its all been small tedious stuff that takes forever and there's really no big changes. Got my rear tires mounted and bolted em on today, since i don't have to work till tonight I've been in the shop all day. I rolled it out, it's been the first light it's seen in a long time. I need to lower the ride height a little.  Anyway, here's the pictures.

And just to show how bad the rust really was, here's a picture of my old bumper brackets

great work, dont worry too much about the ride height yet, wait till you put all that weight back in , drive train, interior etc, you will be thinking about lifting it up, :popcrn: :popcrn:keep posting photo's very good build to watch progress
