WHEEL SPACERS (NEED ANSWERS!!!)

Well guys I am trying to come up with a cheaper big disc brake kit but running into a problem - most wheels do not have the alotted caliper clearance for 4 or 6 piston calipers - So before I dump big $$$ into more research - would you guys answer my question - the only way it would work would be to run a wheel spacer

I run 1/4" billet spacers on the front to clear the Viper calipers.    Cragars have a flat spoke on the backside and it looked good until I torqued the wheels.      1/8" would work but the only ones that size I found were 1sizefitsall mr. gasket type stuff.

I believe curved spoke tt2 type wheels would probably work.   I know Rick ran cop car wheels on the Beeper till he put on the 17" hot wheels.

I just picked up a '73 "project" Charger (aren't they all??). The PO had bought a set of aluminum mags that had been on a Jeep Cherokee. While the bolt pattern was the same, when he installed them they "rubbed". He went and installed 1/2" spacers to clear the calipers and they worked great. While not perhaps my own choice for wheels, the results don't look too bad and don't seem to stick out to much either. My two cents...

I have  used thin ones before without issue. I 'm talking .25 or less, and they were tight fit, custom drilled units. I also had longer wheel studs as well.

There are also thicker adapter type spacers that bolt to the hub and can have an alternate bolt pattern as well. These typically run over an inch in thickness. Never used them myself, so no first hand experience with them.

I have used these for years to mount FWD wheels to a RWD volvo. They are hub and wheel centric and have had no issues at all with them
