Life's too short, please everyone, live it up.......

Man,, just got a phone call from the shop supervisor of the shop that painted my former '68 Hemi Charger R/T, the call one never expects and is totally out of the blue. My friend and owner of the shop, Tim Meaux, http://www.momusclecars.com/ , passed away this past week from complications during a fall. He was a fortunate man who turned his passion of muscle/classic cars into a top-notch restoration business. Tim owns the very 1st '69 Charger ever built, the red R/T in the ads. I was going to have the privilege of helping him put it together. Hopefully his son will carry on that torch.

Now, with that being said. I request everyone take stock in their lives. If you want something, go for it. Don't wait and wait thinking that one day "it's" going to happen. Like all of us, we all want as many of these cars as possible, humans are pack-rats....... But, don't let that cripple you from making tough decisions. My example is my Daytona, as many of you know the story. But, for those who don't, here it is briefly. I had three high-pedigree Chargers; a '68 Hemi Charger R/T in LL1 (beautiful) and a '69 Charger 500 440 -speed and finally, my '70 440 six pack Charger R/T. Owning any one of these would be a blessing, but I had all three... What a sight once all of them were done... But, there lies the broken illusion. There was no way I was ever going to be able to fix them all up in any reasonable amount of time and later full-fill my dream on owning a true Daytona like my father did.

I finally realized one day, as they say, "you can't have them all"......... And I couldn't. I'm an average guy who's been blessed to be around Mopars all my life. I've been lucky, savvy, and knowledgeable on what to do and not to do. Over the years, I amassed quite a collection the cars. Up to the point of the current 3 I had, only one ran, one was going to take many more years to finish at the current level of restoration and who knows how long the v-code would take to get started. So, when the opportunity was placed in front of me to give up two for a real Daytona, I thought about it for about an hour and said, "let's do it".....  Some people thought I was crazy, some thought I was on-the-mark. I prefer the later. I have a great Daytona and it's mine......... (plus, I have more room in the garage now)

So, remember all you "collectors of cars"....... If you have a dream car, but full of projects, let them go.. Get what your heart wants and let the wheels roll.........

I'm one of those guys who never thought much about the future and lived life one day at a time. I'm starting to believe that after 40....we're not invincible anymore!  I need to take better of myself, and put more stock in my life......because our time is precious.

Damn Troy, sorry to hear about your friend.  I agree, life is too short.  Thats why I hug and kiss my daughter every day I get home from work and kiss her on her head before I leave for work.

He sounds like the type that worked hard all his life. Sorry to hear it.

Car projects can be replaced but, that would have been something special to be involved with the restoration of the first 69.

Please accept my condolences on the loss of your friend. Life is, indeed, to short which is exactly why we must embrace all the little joys we are given as well as the obvious gifts. Bless you, your family and Mr. Meaux as well.

Troy --- As others have said, that is far too young... There was still so much life to enjoy, and it was cut short..

You are absolutely correct about enjoying life, and taking nothing for granted.. Last year when I landed in a hospital bed and put on an emergency liver transplant list I realized how quickly my stupid (past) decisions in life had effected the rest of my life.. Days later I responded to medication and was removed from the transplant list.  I have since learned that life is short, and live every day as if it were your last...

My sympathy goes out for the loss of your friend. I am sorry.

Sorry to hear about this Troy. I for one was looking forward to a thread being started by you on the ongoing restoration of the 69 R/T. Life is short, and there are many of us here who have been truly blessed by God. I know I for one have to slow down at times and take a look around and just be satisfied with what I do have, as i know for many years growing up we didn't have nearly this much. (once we left for Thailand anyways).
