Any idea what happened to these Superbirds?

I just read about this car online. Here's the story.

"It was in a biker's back yard in Massena, NY. We asked him what he wanted and he freaked and said "If you don't have $30,000 f*** off!" and threatened to go get his shotgun. Many months later it disappeared and a ratty MG took its place. Go figure. "

Anybody know anything about it?

Another one...

"These pictures were taken in 1991, I took photos of the car and then I knocked on the front door... a woman answered the door and I asked, "are you doing anything with the car or is it for sale?" she replied, no its not for sale and we don't have any future plans to do anything with the car. I told her that she should at least cover it up because it was rotting away. She said that it was OK and thanked me for my concern. Today sept. 2001 the car still sits in that exact space. the floor boards are 6 inches in the ground and im sure there is heavy rust. the car is complete and nothing is missing. They are the original owners of the car. The expiration sticker on the car was from October 1981. "

I just don't understand why someone would just let things like that just rust away and not let it go to someone that would actually care for it
