Anybody have any pictures of 295/65/15's on their car yet?

Here's mine with 15x8 Prostars 4.5in backspace. A 5in backspace will rub on the leaf springs in the stock location....you could move the springs inboard  but you might want to check the wheel tub clearance with that combo....it will be close.  :yesnod:

terrible one

Hmm, so I'm seeing a lot of mention of the 295's on a 15x8 with 4.5" of backspace. Any of you guys know if there's enough room between them and the leaf springs for me to go with a 4.75" backspace on a 15x8" wheel instead?

I'm wondering if a spacer would get both Terrible One and me back to where we need to be?

I have 295  65 15's  mounted on 15 x 10's with 4 1/2 backspacing on my 69 Charger they do fill up the wheel well. On an 8 or 8 1/2 inch wheel with 4 1/2 inch backspacing you may not have have enough clearence for suspension travel and movement. Be Careful

firefighter,
will a 295/65 fit a 2nd gen charger without SS springs

I don't see why not. If a 325/50 fits than there's lots of room for a 295/65. Of course it helps to have the correct backspacing. With a 15x8 and 4.5in backspace you'll be fine.

It's probably been addressed already, but will 295/60/15's be OK with 15 X 8 Rally rims ?
It's for a 71 Charger......I was concerned about the clearance with the leaf spring. I am looking at getting 15 X 8 Rally wheels with 275's, but if a 295 fits with no problems....????? :shruggy:

pete, im no expert on this matter but most 295/50/15 tires i hear of are on 10 inch wheels. I think it can be done with a 8 inch wheel (with the right back spacing etc) but i dont know about rubbing issues  :shruggy: and i do know they will look better on a 10 inch width rim (on the 8 inch it tends to bulge out the sides more) imo, 275/60/15's are better on chargers like ours the higher profile looks better and fills up the space better  :2thumbs: I am  a fan of wide, tall tires and would have a 295 tire but not 50's id happily go 295/65/15 on a 10 inch rim.  :Twocents:

G'day Mike,

don't know if I've sent you the link already, but I tried these rally wheels on the other day, courtesy of the other guy near me who owns a 71.....here's the link to pictures of 15 X 8's on my car - I like it.

bull

You can fit 295s on 15x8s but ideally they should be on wider rims such as 9.5s or 10s.

Hi pete, i checked out that link looking good  :2thumbs: what size tires on the back in the pics? 275/60/15? if not are you thinking of going for that size? seems to fit a 15x8 good imo.

G'day Mike,

I actually think the ones on those rally wheels are only 245's. 275's would look even better.

peter, imo 275's will look alot better than 245's they will fill it up nicely  :2thumbs: it all depends what look your after of course but the 275/60/15 is a perfect fit for a 8x10 imo

The thing I don't like about the 275s is the height. I wish they made them in a 50 series instead of just 60 (at least I don't know of anyone making them in a 50 series). I like the wide, squatty look and that's why I prefer the look of the 295/50s.

I used to like lower profile tyres, but on something as big as aCharger, i think the higher sidewall just fills in the void a little better.

some like them taller some like them lower like bull btw typo from me i meant 275/60/15 looks good on a 15x8 not 8X10

I have a 74 charger with Cragar SS 15x8, I would like to try the 295/65/15 as well, I don't know if I have enough backspace for them.  The 275/60 fit just fine, never have rubbed, just looking for something a little bigger.

The 295/65/15S rub on my 68.
They were close about 1/2 or 5/8" but when you stomp on it I get some twist out of my springs and thecar squats the rear end comes foreward and the tire hits the wheelwell. I have a snubber and all new suspension so I am really trying to figure this out as I would like to keep these tires. would caltracs help?
I have the moldings but removed them for now until I get this worked out.
