Well I had a badly ground ecu and adjusted my carb lean to try and fix the super rich condition. I now have a good ground on the ecu but a couple plugs the porclin is white. The others are a brownish shade. I put some ngk 4's that are one step hotter than what I was running in. Now I would like to have the carb back to square one before firing it back up.

What did you adjust exactly ?   just the mixture screws ? or did you change metering rods as well ?

Turn them in clockwise until they JUST bottom out and then back them off 1-1/2 to 2 turns.

edit-lisiecki is right, they don't need to be jammed home-highlighting added for emphasis  ;)

Sheesh! Only took 1/2 turn to bottom out. I backed out 1.5 turns. One side the spring felt loose. But it was running ok, or seem to.

you can remove the spring and stretch it slightly if you're worried about the preload.  If your engine sees decent vibration it could move your adjustment around if you don't have a preload on it.
