Need help bypassing the schools blocking. Is it possible?? Also i cant put my music from my ipod to the itunes. Any way to get it on this computer???

If your talking about Inet filters most are circumvented through external proxies.

Can't help you on the iTunes issue, Ill just avoid

There are aplications to copy your ipod back to itunes (just search on ipod recovery)

As for Firewalls etc, dont try it. you will get into much trouble.

Yes, I read that part, however I believe if you read further down they are still talking about reverse engineering cryptography with regard to DRM. The statement, as I understand it simply means that someone will get in trouble for simply breaking the DRM on some item, regardless of weather or not they infringe on copyright (hand it out for free). I don't believe the law criminalizes circumventing ANY access control.

Im not even copywriting. Im not stealing anything nor copying anything from the school. Therefore, (not illegal).

Just want around the stupid blocking everything.

I wanted to put my music on the compute and the nanny software wont let me import anything.

There are many ways.. First, though , is this on your system, or the school's system, that you're looking to "bypass" the nanny software??

Me too.. And it's still out of control. I'm running on PHPBB and I get AT LEAST 100 spam sign-ups per day.... I used to use www.hidemyass.com for a lot of stuff, but people are catching on to it.

I guess I read more into it....either way, the school puts those controls in place for a reason....what is he trying to accomplish when he should be doing school-related things at school?  Wow....I sound like my parents...hahahahah.....If it's just about music, get an ipod.  I'm sure the school doesn't want your music on there computers.

The reason im trying to get behind it is because im to smart for this class. Takes me 10/55 minutes to do my assignments. haha.

Actually, I believe the provision being discussed has been applied very broadly by the courts.  It's the underpinning for most "hacking" prosecutions, in which individuals are prosecuted for circumventing security systems of private enterprises (which, involves no DRM or cryptography).  While I'm sure we all agree that the request here sounds much less malicious than hacking into a business network, and if he gets caught he's extremely unlikely to be prosecuted, more likely suspended - (although I personally know a guy who was expelled for breaking a school computer password to change the scrolling text screen saver to a band name.  seriously.) - but I believe based on the interpretation of the courts, it would techincally be illegal. 

Good luck finding anyone to prosecute it, though

Nevermind, you're right - 1030 is federal hacking, dmca only applies to copyright.  Looking through 1030, it's actually framed pretty well to require some form of harm.

yeah either find a proxy or stop it in the shell script before it loads up, but for the record you SHOULD be studying and like focusing on building a future and stuff.

So Cody. Maybe you should spend the other 45 minutes working on punctuation, spelling and grammar.

My son was also "too smart" for his classes and ended up suspended and/or expelled from every high school in the district (including AI) for diddling with the computer systems. He even created a program to capture the security admin's password.

He was caught each time by someone that was "too" smarter than him.

There is nothing new under the sun, son. You should just leave well enough alone.

While age may make a person an adult legally, it does not make one an adult psychologically. One of the hallmarks of adulthood is being able to consider the possible consequences of his or her actions and then making a sound decision based on that consideration.

If you figure out a way behind the firewall/security system and get caught - what then? It is possible that you may serve a short suspension. It is also possible that you will removed from any and all classes that require the use of a school computer. What would that do to your graduation plan? There is also a possibility that you could be charged with a crime. That could have a far-reaching effect.

This kind of stuff tends to follow you through life and can reappear, with adverse effect, just when you can least afford it.
