Well guys, you that know me know the woes she has but me threw. Nothing like a 42sick and $7000 440 going bad to kick you in the ass. She has been kicking my ass for 10 of the 18 years I have had her. Frame rail rusted in half, did her up. Spent 350 hours plus this last time. It is her second time around I will add.

Then the 42sick, ran like hell (great) but was using a quart every 75 miles? Ran test and looked like heads, did them and ran better, but was still a 2 stroke 42sick. Next spent $12,000 plus on the blowen 440, $7000 bottom end went to shit after 90 miles? Blower has yet been ran? (440 is being saved)

In the last 10 years I got to drive her 2000 miles at the max, and likely less than that. But all I do is throw time and money at it. I think I missed her off when I sold the number match BB that ran great for the 42sick. All I do is day dream, dump oil and money into her. I have never had a car fight me like this. If there is a 4 wheel money pit I own it.

She is a friend and foe at the same time. She has never not make it home under her own power. Has dragged my happy a-s 62,000 miles with out problem till yanked her orginal engine than the fight started. Frame rails was not a fight, it was just time.

If I sell her, my first love will get the TLC I should have gave her. My poor old 68 Road Runner has taken a back seat for 15 years to the other cars. Got her when I was 17 from Mon and Dad, still not a POS but fa from her gloary days. Time to cut her up into small pices and start over.

Prices I asked and buyer is fair and not the issue at all. He is young, only 20 and a little worried about that but not much. Him and I have been talking and E-mailing for a while and I think she will be treated the was she should. Swears there will be no bar hopping, no goofie wheels (stock or SS that are on her), no leaning or sitting on her and will keep his friends feet of the dash! Broke more than one friends knee when I was his age when they tried to stick there feet on the Runners dash.

He also wants to start with a stock 383/400. To me that is a plus! None of the dumb shit (I want 500 HP) crap from the young and dumb! Hum, if your think I am talking about you I am. (ready to cry) I rather see him to grow into what she can do than wrapped a round a tree and gone like her kin.

I talk about the Mopar Fire a lot, only reason she was saved. Is it time to pass the Mopar Fire and lite a new fire and rekindle my first love.

I know this will make be sound likely a grily man but the tought of selling her makeing me weep. But so does the fact the poor Runner is sitting out side like she as for 27 years waitting her turn.

Friend that know me in person don't answer pleases.

PS, if possible buyer read this, if you hurt her I will rip your head off, shit down your neck and make your Mother throw up when she see's your remains! Funny part you think I am kidding, I AM NOT! No matter if you have the title or not, she will all wises be mine, she just on loan. :icon_smile_big:

GTX

Can I say something?

Man, I'd think about that for a long, long time but I hear 'ya

I sold the GTX in a fit of rage and regretted it almost immediatly.
It took me almost 5 years to find the car again and buy it back and it's home where it belongs-  almost 16 years now .
I sat up many times wondering if my car was being beat to hell.

I do understand though that sometimes a breakup or trial separation is a good thing.

Ditto what GTX said. I needed cash and was starting a family and sold the Hemi Coronet I had. Still wake up in cold sweats from time to time over that. Think long and hard, and then do it again. Once she's gone - she's gone.

Ghoste

If you're already unsure (and if you read your own post, you will know that you are Ken), you will only be filled with regret after.

I sort of feel that way as well. But I hope him and I would be come friends and talk alot. I did tell him I would help him with her qurks.

At this point, if there was fresh nasty 440 sitting here in front of me. I dont think I could bring my self to drop it in the Charger. Life and her have beaten down.

I did have 3 guys that happen by today that asked about the Charger and if it was for sell? I gave them the prices and they said OK they be back. Well I did not care for them a lot, if they come back, unless they throw stupid money at me it wont be there's!  Word Bling made me want to blow chucks! :icon_smile_angry:

What I could sell her 4 would bring the Runner back to her state of former golary. 11.8 street car with the left over 440. Charger would be sold with out a engine. Buyer asked if I would get it running, answer was NO. If she moves under her own power, I will never sell her.

Let faces it, Charger one of the best looking cars that where made hands down! But a car with the I am going to mess you up bad looks is the 68 Runner.

Keep think of the poor old ran to death Runner. Guess you folks know the way I am leaning. Charger is like taking home the prom queen. Runner is the woman you want to grow old with.

4.10, open the 356 heads, 528 stick, cross ram, 3500 stall, some new sheet metal and 2 months of love she would be back.

95% sure it is time to pass the Mopar Fire on, But God she is so pretty.

I don't care how badly I needed money, if someone used the word bling during a conversation about Chargers or any other Mopar Muscle I'd close the conversation right then with ' the car is not for sale to you'.

There are way too many older guys or even young guns who who would love to have the car  and they would know what it's for and it ain't bling! :flame:
It's too important that some of these cars survive and continue on as intended.
I hate General Lee cars myself but at least they aren't Bling!!
( I know I'll get flamed for that opinion about Gen Lee's but it's my opinion damn it)

I'd put the charger to pasture for a while and begin work on the Runner. Distance yourself fro mthe Charger for a while and think it over.

Ive read your posts and feel really bad for ya. The heartache and the money invested really sucks.

However, they are growing tiresome and just plain silly.

If you spent the time working on the car instead of crying about it, it just might be running.

Buck up and go out to the damn garage!!!

If you said that in front of me about working on her I punch you up site the head and kick you while you where down and break your spin 2 Gunz! I have put more time and money in this car than I have the Runner in 28 years of owning her

Last thing I am is a quiter! If I was she would have been beer cans in 1985 when I bought her.  Lets not forget the frame rails and I saved her again! Not counting the $12,000 in the 440, I have spent around $20,000 in parts and engines.Factor in body, paint, engine, brakes etc would = 700 hours X $52.00 a hour = $36,400. With parts that is $56,400 plus the POS 440 and blower. That would be $68,4000.00. Heck, I would only owe $3000.00 on the house!

Sorry I sound so pissed, and you may have spent as much time or money as I, (if you did you are nuts as well) but the bank account is dry. There is no more money to throw at it.

So as far as crying, welll take it from there 2Gunz. Till you have walked in my shoes, be a little kinder with your post's.

Ken,

In short DO NOT DO IT.

I did, I never in my life felt so sick as to see my car on a trailer knowing it would not longer be mine.... To me it was one of those days you will never forget.

Now for me the Charger was my first car.   I parted with it and never would again,   she even has a great home.   Great owner.   (charger4404spd) on here.   I hope to make the trip to see her someday.   And when I get all paid off, if he would sell it I would buy it in a heart beat.

I think you are fustrated right now... Only thing i could say is did you get rid of the Blower, and/or other parts you do not need?   Keep them listed,   List again on ebay,, Heck I will pay the fee if it does not sell.

List it on racingjunk.com list,

Anyway.   I think 2GUNZ was just tying to encourage you.... Not PISS YOU off....

LMK if I can HELP in anyway.... just keep the car.

Just let it go, he just a junior member. Sometimes they forget there places. Might be friends with D--k ---- and have 225 Aspen 4 door.

By the way, if you answer this, you are bigger losser than the $12,000 440. I could list a link to a Honda site for you. They like smart a-s stuff like this.

I bet 10 to 1 he answers ;D

No more fight and only looking for answers and help.

I happen to know Ken personally and had you been within reach you would likely be a small grease spot on the ground right about now. Thank goodness for the anonymity of the internet huh? It's obvious that you honestly have no idea what he's gone through on this car OR the fact that he practically lives in that garage staring at it. A little encouragement is good sometimes but I guess there's a fine line between that and kicking someone when they are down. I suppose that I could say a whole lot more but sometimes it's best to know when to shut up. :P
