Hey Brian, if you're not sure about how to cover the cost of getting your old car back & restoring, at least the black one can be put to good use as a parts bin to make your old one new again.

If you have any leftover stuff, let me know.

looks  pretty straight  :yesnod: , nice set of slots by the look of it  :yesnod:
were they on the car when you sold it ?
i spy hood pins , wonder if they are factory ,  :scratchchin:

Slots were on it when I bought and sold it,  15x7 front,  15x8 (?) rear.   Looks like same old tires... maybe.

Hood pins were my doing.   I tried the keyed / locking variety after some buttwipe that was supposedly my friend stole my plug wires and Supercoil once but I went back to the old lanyard setup.    I have a new set of repros from YO that I never put on Black Betty waiting  :icon_smile_big:

damn  robbed your leads & coil , man what a friend
:brickwall:
wheels & intreior still the same  :coolgleamA: time machine for sure Brian awesome stuff :popcrn:

I know where my old GTX is but it is not for sale and if it ever does come up for sale I'll only find out about it after the fact.

couldn't you leave him your name for first dibs if he ever decides to sell?
I couldn't afford to buy it back! I always have to start with a project, spend twice what it would cost to buy a finished car because I pay as I go. Besides, it's not a 4 speed car and I will not own any more slushbox shifted cars. My racing days are over and rowing a stick car keeps the driving fun. Having an automatic car for me would be like having a Harley with an automatic trans, it just doesn't work if you know what I mean.

I'm with aussiemuscle on this one..... pay the current owner a visit, explain the story to him, and leave your contact info.... never know when that call might come!

BTW, Brian, congrats on re-scoring your old ride! Look forward to seeing it at Carlisle one of these years!
Here's a little more to the story. I sold the car to a "collector" as he put it. He wanted to add it to his stable. He had a 69 GTX and this was going to keep it company in his garage. I sold the car for 20K, I then found out the collector was really a "flipper". I really didn't care because I accepted his offer and was happy. Two weeks go by and "flipper" sells the GTX for 28K...to another" flipper". Another month goes by and "flipper" number two sells the GTX for 30k+. It was last in the hands of a "collector" in eastern Massachusetts. I could not and would not spend what the asking price would be on that car today. The sad part is I had the chance to buy my friends one owner 4000 mile, yes four thousand mile Superbird for 45K at the time. I passed on it. John Balow of musclecar restoration fame ended up with that car and it was for sale a few years back for 225K!!! Oh well, like I said, lesson learned. You are paying attention right? You have your second chance, don't blow it!

And here's some motovtion for you. This is what my old GTX looked like when I bought it back, total junk but still numbers matching.

This is what it looked like after four years of hard work, I was an idiot to sell it but you can't change the past.

I just found my way back to this thread!
Brian, you're a very lucky guy!!

I found my old Challenger R/T recently, but the owner really wasn't into letting it go. It seems he's pretty adamant about using it as his 401k.

Car was repainted before I bought it way back when in 78....     I'm fuzzy as to whether I thought it had a factory vinyl top that was removed or not.    I might actually decide to put it back on if it was in fact a vinyl car.

I need some sorta artist to look over the remnants of the mural to see whether it can be restored on the decklid or not... if the decklid can be salvaged at all anyway.    One option was having somebody digitally fix it and creating a wrap for the decklid that could be either removed or easily replaced if damaged.

One thing I do not see in the pics is the M25 lower moldings...  I know they were on the car back then.  Hopefully they show up with the rest  of the spare parts.

Otherwise... all it needs is EVERYTHING!

Brian, I'd like to see the deck lid mural when you have time to get some better pics. Stuff like that was a big trend back then, & I remember seeing all kinds of cars with that stuff. There was an early 70's Javelin near me in NJ back in the late 70's or early 80's that had some fancy artwork on it. Someone else I remember, had pot leaves painted on their car with mags & fat tires. At the time we all thought it was cool & not tacky or dated.

If the deck lid is trashed, at least save it & hang it on the wall in the garage.

It's back in Michigan where I used to live.   I bought it in 78, sold it before I moved to NY.
I've lived in New York since 82.  It's getting delivered Monday 8/31 if all goes according to plan.

I don't think so...   unless your actual name is Kate Beckinsale and have your leather Underworld outfit on  ;D

The Charger got picked up yesterday.   It's leaving MI for NY in the morning.    Less than 24 hours to go.
