How my Charger got new gears..a study in feminine psychology

So..last year when I finished putting the Scow together I made the usual noises about how 'It might be cool to take it up to the dragstrip and see what it will do'...and, of course, my waife was...'NO...what if it gets wrecked, the insurance etc etc etc......' so I have been content 'racing' it around town...
a little while ago our car club decided to do the Barracuda drag car project so we went up to Sears  Point/Imfineon to check out the wed night open drag deal....90% mustangs, right....one lonesome Challenger, some other cool cars...and a chick in a stock VW golf that ran like a 20........so on the way home my wife was all quiet then busted out with:

'You should start racing the Charger up here'...that was cooler than I thought it would be..it looks like it will be fun! ( in her youth she was a circle track fan, and always said drag races where dumb)

..after a MICROSECOND of thought I merely muttered..in a VERY casual and unexcited manner:

'Yeah thats a great idea..I just need to do a couple of things to the car honey'...

needless to say, the old Scow is currently getting a 'few things' done.....starting with 4:56's and a 5 -speed.............looks like the first week in september I will it the first tryout.

the 'few things' getting done this week:

M & H wrinkle wall cheater slicks on 10"" wheels
4:56's in the Dana
Line Locker
torque boxes welded in
exterior kill switch and relay (removable)
suspension 'tune'
puke can
air purge for the cooling system

next month I will get the 5 speed to compensate for the big gears...

I currently have 404 HP at the wheels according to the chassis dyno so my buddy the 'drag guru' thinks I can get it into the mid 12's if I dont fuck up my shifts. which would be pretty cool. I will run the current 4 speed and if I destroy it practicing my shifts no big deal.

If you're getting slicks, maybe you pop for her new shoes.

Race on!

Very nice, Frank. Looks like a great deal with Paul, also. Let me know when you're going to be "coming out" at Sears Point and I'll try to make it and snap some pics. Maybe your wife can talk to my wife....
