Research here first, sounds like a good plan of action. I'm no body guy ether so I can relate!

Here are some pointers from things I have learned here.

1. Get references from the body shop and follow them up.

2. Do not pay up front. Once they have your money your car will never get done.

3. Get a contract in writing of cost, time to finish & what work will be done. See above. Also some members cars have been at the body shop for years.

4. Keep agreed value insurance on your car. Maybe not a requirement since your car will be stripped. Some have had damage / theft at the body shop.

Truthfully - do it yourself!!. If you are mechanically inclined you can do the body work. They amount you will spend at the body shop will easily pay for all the hand tools, a good compressor & a decent 110v wirefeed welder. After the job is done you will have all the tools for future jobs. Don't overwhelm yourself. Break the project down into small steps and complete them one at a time. With the high quality metal coming out now from AMD these projects are becoming easier. I had never done bodywork before and put a trunk in my friends Challenger. I bought a Rotobroach cutter for the spot welds and an air punch to put holes in the new metal for rosette welds. We took our time, measured carefully and it came out great. Good luck with your project - saving an R/T is a worthwhile endeavor.

BROCK

A buddy of mine owns a body shop.  So, I've seen first hand how you don't want your rare or hard to find
parts left loose in someone elses' hands.  Oh, he learned & they are more organized than ever - but until
it involves lockboxes:  stuff will come up missing.  Best to keep your parts yourself, even when it's a friend
it will involve others that you just can't be sure about.

Hi,
Yeah, I know This trunk emblem is wrong, this car is a Dodge.    :2thumbs:
But I dont want to give my original CHARGER emblems to robbers.  :rotz:
And I can't find these parts in Iran.
I've bought this PLYMOUTH emblem just 4$....
Ha ha ha ha... some parts don't excist in Iran (such as CHARGER molding emblem) , but some parts excist and are very cheap (such as a not-used '69 Charger tail-lights in 40$)...

GO SELL CRAZY SOMEWHERE ELSE WE ARE ALL STOCKED UP HERE

aaron543420

The idea behind the 69....

I'm going to go with the semi stock thing ..... The only thing thats really going to change is the rear end and engine . The guy gave me 2 Dana 60's when i bought the car so I figure I should use one lol ..... and the original motor is coming out and going into storage (for now). I have a mild 440 thats been rebuilt for my 71 Dart but im thinking that its already painted and ready to drop in so it will go in the 69 (trying to save a few bucks before the lady of the house kicks my butt)....

The body will be black with a black top and a red rt stripe. The originally color was a baby poop green... Someone then painted it gold and then someone came in behind them and gave it a very very poor black coat of paint.

I think the interior was red and black (kind of hard to tell lol ) and I'm thinking I will go back to the same colors but just not as much red as it originally had.

Oh and I love pictures so yea there will be many many many more.

I see a tag on the fender, did you decode it yet?  :scratchchin:

Very cool...that picture of it in the field reminds me of when I found my '69. The interior in case you're wondering dosen't look original. The red seat and black door panel are not for a '69.

Went for a cruise with some of my buddies last weekend and ended up at sonic  :drool5:

lisiecki1

all sonics should look like that....all the time....
Remember the average response time to a 911 call is over 4 minutes.

The average response time of a 357 magnum is 1400 FPS.

Love me some Charger Baby!! And no you cant touch it.

aaron543420

I was thinking the seats were not the correct ones ...but wasn't 100% sure.... I do know that the right fender came off a 68.... but no matter ...when the  car was being moved my buddy's wife "accidentally" hit the fender with the bobcat and trashed it....it was a sad day
