The legendary red Charger

So a while back I got on facebook to locate old high school friends and distant relatives and I keep getting a variation of the following sentence when I reconnect, "Do you still have that old red Charger?" It's synonymous with me and high school. In fact I'm willing to bet more people remember the red Charger than they do its owner. Do you guys ever get that sort of thing? It's mostly the women too, which I find interesting.

Ghoste

Yep, all the time Bull.  "Ghoste" was actually a local nickname for a 69 Charger I had a long time ago.  People asking me if I had still had it led to an inside joke with a couple of friends and then it became a username.

yep, i was "the guy with the big, gray, bad ass car"..... :icon_smile_big:

I am not on facebook but my wife is. A lot of our classmates still ask if I have my old Charger. I plan on taking it to the next class reunion we have.

It's funny, I've had some people tell me they knew me, but I don't remember meeting them before. They'd say that they were either at my house for a party, or that they knew me because of my car, a 1969 Cadillac Hearse.

Yep, I get that all the time.  In high school my first Charger was a red 73 SE.

Only difference now is it's a 67 instead of a 73.

I bet people were dying to get a ride in that thing.  :D

I don't have to tell anyone about my '69, pretty much everyone assumes it's mine as there's really no one around here with one. The only other Charger/Mopar owners around here, there's a '72, 2 '70 Challengers, a '72 'Cuda and a few 67-70 Satellites/Roadrunners.

I've met people that I had never seen before and they tell me "oh yeah you're the dude with the (Dukes of Hazzard/Brock Samson/Death Proof/Fast and Furious) Charger". The '73 got plenty of attention and so does my new one, despite not having yet taken it for a proper paint job-with it's sloppy orange spray painted-paint and "out of the barnyard" look it currently has, I still get plenty of cell phone pics, men and women hollering all sorts of things from the staples "crank it up!" and "how much?" to "yeehaw" to "holy shit that's a legit Charger!", guys wanting to race and even had good looking girls flash and try to give me their numbers (I'm happily taken but it does give me a good laugh).

It also gives me a good laugh when I take my girlfriend or friends and family for a ride, as they get a kick out of the attention the car gets.

I'm tempted to say there is no such thing as a Charger "joke".  ;)

"Do you still have your General Lee from those days?"  <-- THE question whenever I see anyone from my teens.

My Charger came along after high school...all I get is "so do you still have that old truck"? I'm pretty sure that half the reason I'm asked that is because I used to say I'd never sell it. So do I still have it?

Yes I do. :icon_smile_big:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Bull,

Yes, but the current owner is being a PITA about it. I contacted him, sent him old pictures, told him all the war stories, etc., and he never reciprocated by sending some current pics I asked for, even though he said he would. I know where it is though so one of these days I'll probably just go see it myself.

Which is pretty cool considering how hard you worked to establish that reputation as the kid who looked like one of the Hansens.  :nana:
