Whoa, I had an AWESOME DEAL then!!!!  I bought all this from a guy who had a few 73 chargers where I live:

* Bumper Jack
* Door Striker Bolt
* Hood Hingers
* Ashtray Lid
* Park Light Assembly with Lense
* 2 Charger Emblems

All for 50 bucks!  I sandblasted the bumper jack, painted it glossy black, and it looks brand spankin new!  Too bad I have no plans of selling since I needed the jack to complete the car, but man oh man, I didn't know they were that expensive!

Hey Bull, you didn't want that '69 jack, you have a '68!   I gave up on finding a reasonable jack about a year ago when the going Ebay rate for a jack was $180........ $519?????? thats just insane. I thought $180 was insane.............   :sick:        well, my eyes are open for one but I ain't been lookin real hard   :rotz:

Spartan

That is insane.  I'll tell my dad that his 2 jacks that came in his "new" 67 that he has some rusty gold on his hands. That much for a jack is outragous.
Over?! its not over until we say it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!...Hell no! and its not over now!..(Germans? Pearl Harbor?...shut up, he's on a roll)

Bumper Jack, I don't even have a spare tire.

I guess thats why I have AAA.

The kid that I bought my '69 from threw the bumper jack away thinking they were unsafe and undesireable. Anyone in the Stonybrook New York area should go visit the landfill. It has only been 2 years since it was chucked.

I'd rather spend the money on a good hyd. floor jack or tools or something. Buy a bottle jack for the car!!   F$#k Ebay :flame:

I agree.  Most of this madness is more of that 2nd gen stuff.  The highest volume of Chargers built but they have a unique jack to fit their skinny ass little bumpers so even though a couple hundred thousand of these jacks were built, they must be rare and valuable. ::)

As far as I can tell the 68-70 jack is the same.     I have heard that the 68 is different, but visually I couldn't tell.   The 2 main discerning features of a 68-70 jack is the flat, welded on (non-removable pad/hook) and the solid triangular post with matching base.
Some posted "I got a jack and such for $50"....great but is it the "right" jack?.

Like others have stated I don't/wouldn't use mine if needed.   I carry a tool box that has a small scissors jack from (don't tell anyone) a Ferd ::)

A Ferd?!?! :o I'm telling! So Chris, the bases are unique too? I thought I heard that the bases are a more common design but that the jack mechanism and pad were the special parts.

Unless you got a show trunk why bother with that crap jack?    If it costs too much quit yer bitchin because they've doubled in price or more in the last 2-3 years - they're not coming down anytime soon.   I thought they were too much when they hit $200.    I don't even think about them anymore...  I wouldn't use it if I had it and it would just take up room for other stuff I keep in the trunk anyway.

I think that's something that can wait until the car's finished paint.

I got a roadside kit with a hydraulic jack, electric impact, light, tools,  etc in a soft sided bag myself.

I was wondering if/when Brian was going to give me the smack down. :icon_smile_blackeye: You're probably right.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I've tossed many of those jacks inside parts cars when they were scrapped or sold, & stopped using them over 25 years ago when I bought a small hydraulic jack in a plastic case. I still have 5 or 6 in my basement, but don't know one from the other. They could be from my Scamp, a Duster I had, & maybe the Chargers I had, or even a GTX or something. I stopped throwing them away when I realized I might want one to decorate the trunk with one day. I'd bet you can still find them cheap for same year cars, with the only difference being the hook.

It is possible but most other makes/models  I have seen use a square hollow post and matching base

 Bull, clean out your PM box. I tired to PM you and it full and would not take mine.

I am back

twilt

some people will pay $$$ for a jack. about 2 years ago, i pulled a jack out of the trunk off a 69 satellite 4 door at the local pull it yourself junkyard. Normally, they remove all of the jacks from the cars before putting the cars in the yard, but this one was pinned underneath a engine block. i managed to get it out and they didnt even charge me for it, got it for free. though i didn`t realize it at the time, it turned out to be for 70-71 E body. stuck it on ebay for 24.99 first bid, ended up getting around $225 for it.. nothin like easy money.

Telvis

I didn't know jacks were worth that much. I have the one out of my 72 Challenger I sold. I guess that one will be going on Ebay!

You should see the prices for Daytona scissors jacks...   I heard of one selling last year for $3,000.     :rotz:

Incidentally, even the bumper jacks are date coded (what is it with these infernal cars and their date codes!!!   :flame:   )

A friend of mine sells "repro's"  made from Ford station wagons.  Seem as though the same company made them for the Ford as well except for the fact that the threads on the jack are different.  (the Daytona uses a fine thread and these jacks are coarse (or vice versa)
He gets over $500 a pop for them

I could care less about an item that would scratch my nice chrome bumpers and is unsafe as heck. A $500 decorative piece? Give me break... :rotz:

I think so, what do you think?

Im glad you put that picture up. Im trying to find out where exactly you place the bumper jack on the chargers 68-69. I dont see that part on my frames? The black part that you have the jack under to lift car? I need to see more pics. front and bback of car with jack in place. Im working on a jack project as i type.

Not for the frame, thats why they call it a "bumper" jack.  ;)  (not being patronizing or condescending or being a bully just gently pointing it out because a lot of folks might be thinking the same thing)

Bandit72

I can't even begin to count the amount of bumper jacks (from all various models and makes) that I've had over the years from cars I've bought. Every single on of them ended up in a pile behind the garage until about 10 years ago and I started scrapping some junk out.  :eyes: oh well. I remember one time I bought a 78 dodge pickup for the 360. Truck was pretty well junk except for the engine/tranny and the bed was immaculate  :scratchchin: I don't understand that. But anyways, I bet that dang thing had 30 bumper jacks in the bed and behind the seat! It even had the factory little screw jack thing still under the hood that looked like it had never moved! I didn't keep it either lol
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....
