Compression Ratio/Horsepower Guesstimate

Can anyone give me a close or reasonable idea of the compression ratio and horsepower my 440 is putting out?

It is zero decked, line honed, balanced and blueprinted, .060 over, don't remember head gasket thickness.
Keith Black flat tops, Edelbrock 84cc closed chamber heads 2.14 intake/1.81 exhaust, Comp 292/299 .509/.509 hydraulic cam, Rhoads lifters, Crane gold race roller rockers, Torker I intake, Holley 870 street avenger, MP distributer w/ chrome ECU and Accel Super Coil, Taylor 8.2mm thundervolt ign wires, Hooker Super Comp 2" ceramic coated headers, Milodon 8 qt pan w/windage tray, 3" exhaust w/h-pipe and Super 40's.

I never really gave any thought to what the HP figure would be, I'm hoping surely to god I made 100 hp over the stock 375 with these mods. I saw in a MM article where they bolted on 117 HP to a 383 with some simple swaps.

Thanks for any help.

I know some of the stuff I mentioned seems petty, just wanted to give a better idea.

Without a measured piston-down bore, knowing which head gasket you used for compressed thickness I cna't give an exact, but you are most likely between 10.5:1 and 11:1 static CR. and making between 450 and 500 HP at 5500, and around 500 lb ft of tq. around 3500-4500

I would guess in the neighborhood of 500 hp.

Not to sure about the Torker intake specs, but given the benefit of a decent set of heads flowing at a reasonable rate, a 10.8 compression ratio, 2" headers and a good aftermarket exhaust system, ... I'll go long and say 510 TQ and 520 HP... maybe another 10 sitting on a Dyno.

I'd put that combo at 450-460hp @ 5500-5600 & 510-520ftlbs @ 3900-4000....should be fun to drive but you will want some gear and stall to make it work well.  :Twocents:

Thanks for the estimates.

It gives me a pretty general idea of what I'm getting out of the motor.

I was really hoping to be making at least 500 hp with the time and parts I put into it, oh well. Maybe it has it afterall...

I know its pretty meaningless to say, because comparing dyno numbers is kind of like comparing other things amongst people.... but the fact is a dyno is just a tool, useless to compare one cars dyno curve to another; It is a baseline, and showing improvement off of that baseline. The real comparison is a factor of the car at the track +/- the driver.

That being said, the torque curve has a decent bandwidth, which is the # of RPMs between peak torque and peak horsepower. This is where the engine should be operating in every gear and is the fundamental equation behind the best acceleration for an internal combustion engine.
