I finally bit the bullet and ordered the repop recall wheels for my 69 charger. Original rotors and calipers were swapped out for newer 73? setup. recall wheels won't fit over the slightly larger hub centers. anone ever run into this? its A) machine center of wheel larger (which scares me) B) turn down hub to gain clearance, less scary or C) try to find the original setup, I think its a one year only deal, pretty scarce. another concern is will calipers or anything else interfere once the center clearance is solved?  I'm running 15" steelies w/ dogdish now. any help greatly appreciated. these wheels are way to cool to be just garage art, gotta get em on the car.

I'd probably try turning down the rotors/hubs first.  Those wheels weren't making any friends with their durability in stock form, let alone if they're re-cut.

If the clearance problem is very significant then you might not wanna mess with the whole thing.  Jump through whatever hoops you have to in order to get an original hub assembly on there.

Thanks, I did pick up another new rotor and these are much closer to working. There's lots of meat in this area and it looks like .010 or .015 would get me there so I'm taking them to a shop to see what can be done. I agree that taking 25% off would be risky but I think less than 5% will be OK. I'll keep you posted. Thanks Again Greg

You could always drop down to the 10.87" rotors (if you have 11.75" now) which would move your calipers closer to center and give you more clearance but I'm not sure which '73 setup you have on the car. If it's got A-body spindles now you'd have to trade out the calipers, adapters and rotors.

I do have the larger b body rotors now, the ones I picked up and turned are the smaller b body. will the calipers and pads work on these smaller rotors or do I need to change those along with the rotors? Thanks Greg

Ghoste

I think you'll find that you have to change pads and rotors as well.

BROCK

Just remove the caliper adaptor - this will bring each caliper back down to the 10.87" dia.
