I was just curious as to how many camping enthusiast we have here on the board.  Last summer the wife and I decided to buy our first travel trailer.  We purchased a used trailer to make sure we were going to use it.  In fact we enjoy it so much we are looking to up-grade.  Ours is a 1996 Coachman Catalina bunkhouse.  It is 36ft. long and sleeps nine adults comfortably.  It does have central air and heat, full bath, built in microwave and cable with a HDTV.  Now to most this is not really camping, however this is about as rough as the better half and I would like to get.  I am taking the year off from car shows and doing something the entire family enjoys.  The wife is still  intimidated to pull this beast as it is 7200lbs empty, and quite long at 59ft. from the front bumper of my truck to the rear bumper of the camper.  But having my CDL since I was 22, it does not bother me at all.  Next month we are taking the tribe to Cedar Point in Sandusky Ohio.  Should be a fun trip as always.

I love camping! We used to have an older 16 foot Vanguard travel trailer. Then when my parents divorced my dad got it. Then it got stolen...with my Charger's old hubcaps on it :flame:

Yeah, we got a camper. Only use around fair week though. :brickwall: (The fair grounds are at the other end of the county, and it is easier to just stay there.)

Camping in my house means packing the tent, sleeping bags, Coleman stove and lanterns, and heading up to the Mountains for fishing, waterskiing, waterboarding (the non-torture kind  :P), and campfires. No trailers (but I'm sure my wife would love to have one when it starts raining...). :icon_smile_wink:

I like to camp only if it is in a camper...... I did tent camping and that is not for me.

Your camper sounds like something I would enjoy.

Have fun at cedar point I went there every summer as a kid growing up and loved it more then any other theme park even disney.

I also tent camp, been doing it since my parents first took us across the country to see the Grand Canyon in 77.  I love the baics, cookin over a wood fire, sleepin bags and coffe and bacon in the AM.  I had a woodworker make a homemade kitchen box for me it holds the plates/silver/dried goods (heavy) 3 drawers and 2 shelves. Now on the otherhand, if I can find a 1969 Vintage Airstream in good condition and cheap, I'll pull it with the T&C and upgrade the camping to trailering!

I like camping, but I don't use a tent anymore. Getting rained on for 3 or 4 days gets old fast, especially when you plan the trip for months & it's ruined. Back around 1994 my wife & I decided to look for a small travel trailer that was cheap & didn't have to be loaded up with luxury items. All we needed was a dry place to sleep & store things. We found this small trailer by Sunline called a "Sunspot" that was less than 900 pounds empty. It was a 1979 that we pulled with my 4 cylinder Nissan truck, & the entire floor space was a full sized bed.

After our daughter was born, we needed a larger trailer & found a 1987 Scotty that was 16 feet long. This we pulled with my wife's 6 cylinder Pathfinder, then later my Ford F-150. An older guy who was done camping for good was selling it, & it was in flawless shape. We used it for about 5 years, then one day about 4 years ago we went to a local RV dealer to get some parts for the Scotty & we saw a brand new 24 foot Coachmen in the showroom for about $12.5K & decided to get it. The F-150 pulled it, but the Dodge I have now pulls it much easier.

This pic is the Sunspot, it had the kitchen with a fridge, sink, & 2 burner stove on the outside in the back.

This is the Scotty, which had a bathroom & slept 3 adults & 1 kid in a small bunk above the sofa.

The last several are the Coachmen, & as large as it is, it only sleeps 4, but has a "garage" out back for storage.  :icon_smile_big:
