I just happened to peak onto Ebay and saw this car-

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RESTORED-DOCUMENTED-MATCH-383HP-RARE-4-SPEED-A-C_W0QQitemZ280343471482QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item4145c5e57a&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A317|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1308

Does anyone know if this is correct that only 3 68's 383's had both air and a 4 speed?  If this is the case, I have #2 :2thumbs:.  I'm not restoring it to stock spec's, but I can always turn it back if need be......

Very curious..............

There is no way to know how many 4 speed A/C cars were built. The Options and Accessories reports don't work like that.

He may have heard from GG that there are only three registered and took it to mean something else. There are other things wrong in the ad too.
Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.

The factory didn't want hi-po cars with 4spds getting A/C because the high-revving drivers had a habit of grenading the lower-redline compressors.  Of course that was warranty work they didn't wanna do.  So they weren't letting those two options co-exist very often.

:iagree:

It was never possible to get the 383 HP engine and A/C. All 4 speed A/C cars are the 330 horse variety.

Agree.  What other things are wrong in the ad? :shruggy:

That it's a 68 Charger with the HP engine
That it's an HP engine with A/C

The ad makes it sound like some of standard items, such as Rallye Dash, were options.
