Boy that SUV had to be flying to do enough damage, not allowing anyone or the driver the opportunity to get out. Terrible to say the least. :rotz:

I just hate hearing this kind of stuff thinking there should have been a way to get the driver out. :rotz:
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

That sucks.
I have thought about that happening on these 2nd gen. Chargers.
The gas tank is only about an inch from the rear bumper and if you have the rear bumperettes its like having two spikes pointed at the tank ready to puncture it.

dpm68

Um, yea, screw the nova, poor driver. R.I.P.

FlatbackFanatic

That really sucks!!! I know it was an accident but the SUV driver probably wasn't paying attention, and probably going too fast. And thats what happens. Moron. :RantExplode:

I read it, but the last 25% was not good!

Someone mentioned the other driver involved was to blame.

You do realize that "our" old cars have functioning at best rear lighting and that is taking for granted that the lights and turn signals were in operating order. 40 year old electrical systems and components will not optimally alert other drivers to our intentions during daylight hours. You may be correct and the cause could very well be driver error but until we know do not blame that driver based on the fact it was an SUV that collided with an antique car.  :Twocents:

That nova was seriously smacked...the SUV driver had be going pretty darn fast to do some damage like that...regardless of how bright or dim our brake lights are..some people drive around with no brakes lights cause they dont check them. Its the SUV's fault, you need to be alert when your driving.

I feel horrible for the guy and his family...also for the people who were watching and/or helping im sure it feels horrible for them so see such a thing happen and not being able to do anything about it.

Mike DC

The other driver must've plowed into the back of a virtually stationary Nova at highway speed in broad daylight.  The SUV driver shouldn't need a modern 3rd brake light with LED bulbs shining in their face just to know not to do that.

twinscrew698

I cant believe that post!!

69charger2002

around here if you rear end someone it is 99% of the time your fault, brake lights, no brake lights, doesn't matter. really sucks for that family

The report also said the SUV driver was 77 years old.... maybe held on to his license a little too long?

they were going down a mountain and it is hard to stop coming down it

There was talk of moving car shows away from main roads due to the amount of accidents around here. A few years back there was a number of wrecks in front of car shows in large parking lots. In many of the reports the driver at fault had said he was checking out cars in the show field and had ONLY taken his eyes off the road for a moment.

I have done the same thing, only I do make sure no one is in front of me and I normally just pull in to look around..

I find that most of the car shows I have been to do not plan appropriately for the staging of cars in the show or parking for the people coming to see the cars.  Most are usually close to the main road.  It's common for cars to be backed up out into the street before the start of the show.

I like going to car shows in the park the best.

People tend to take their eyes off the road when they are trying to see what is going on.
I believe it's called "Rubber Necking"

Not to mention the people that like to smoke their tires as they leave flying out onto the main drag.

I usually try to show up early to beat the rush and get a good spot.

Defiantly and unfortunate accident.  Prayers to the family.

Sad sad story.  I've seen a lot of that with bikers stopped waiting to turn and wham.  They almost always get killed and sometimes it right in front of their house.  Sad stuff.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Rubber necking 77 year old, thats the problem right there. Anybody over 70 oughta have to take a new driving test as half should not be on the road. :brickwall: :slap:
