Hi guys, Im new here, I just found this awesome resource. Ive got a 68 charger and ive put a new trunk floor in it and I currently have the quarters cut off. The problem is I had the car sand blasted once i got it cut apart, to blast inside the frame rails, now i need to weld the rear support back to the trunk floor (its connected to the back light panel) but im not sure the exact location where to weld it. I was wondering if any of you guys with a 68 could take a measurement for me so i can tack it back in the right spot. I can post a pic if your not clear what im talking about.

Thanks, Jer

Troy

Wish you would have posted that 6 hours earlier as I spent the afternoon inside my trunk grinding welds. I'll see if I can get pics and measurements tomorrow.

Anyone able to help?!?!?! Id like to weld it in place this weekend its holding me up from installing my quarters and valance. Another question while im at it do the quarter panel corners go in very last after the valance and quarters? (look like little cab corners) Thanks

I still haven't made it to the garage to get your pics although I've been planning to go every day this week.

If you need step-by-step instructions you should check out 69hemi's site: http://www.69hemi.com/

Here's the pics. Guess what? You don't need to be real accurate on the location since the factory wasn't. These are from 2 of my cars so compare the distances side to side. I measured over to the bumper support brackets but there's also a stamped dimple in the tailpanel for reference. You can also see the "point" in the tailpanel and the hole for the trim. The support sits off to the right side of center.

Nice tape measure Troy. It that a Sears?
It just happened to be the one sitting next to the car when I had my camera in hand. I probably got it at Lowe's when I couldn't find one of my 15 other tape measures after moving to the new garage. It's all standard measurements (1/16ths and decimal) since I can't figure out that silly metric system... :D

Hey Thanks for the pics and the link to 69  hemi's site. My problem is this, my car basically had no trunk floor or lower quarters and valance when i got it, it had all rotted away sitting in the woods. However the tailight panel was in tact and the support bracket was intact but hovering above where the floor should be, so I intalled my nice new floors and extensions. the next problem is I realized the car was hit very slightly on the light panel which has rolled it in towards the car, which makes my valance fit terrible : ( So I have to bother you for one more measurement. I see your red car youve put new flloors in it, so if its not too much trouble i just need the measurement from the back of your new trunk floor pan to where youve tacked the bracket on the floor and im hoping that will fix me up.

I would like to post pics of my car soon and tell you all the story about it. Would i do that in the general section?  Thanks guys

So ya Im still in trouble with this back end. Im going to post a picture explaining where i need the measurement. Hopefully someone can help me.

I need the measurement from where the support welds to the trunk floor to the back of the trunk floor.

Whoops! I found the pics on my camera. The battery died when I took them and I just now got it charged again. I hope these work for you.

Looks like 4 inches give or take a little bit, that should help me sort out where to tack it down, thanks troy.
