I have been reading this forum and using info over last year and half while working on my 68. Here are some progress pics to date.

Last of the pics covering floor, window and qtr repairs. Now I can start working on doors, fenders and hood.

I need to start making more progress... my next project is to tackle those lower rear window corners so it's nice to see pics of that area.

did you weld in those rear quarters (that is probably a stupid question  :icon_smile_big:), great work!!!

Yes, I welded on the rear quarters. They are butt jointed and MIG welded.

great job!!  I will be doing quite a bit of that, hopefully fairly soon.  How much experience did you, or do you have at welding?  I ask cause I have never welded sheet metal before and only have a little experience at welding.  I do have a 110 mig welder to do the job, it's a hobart 125 amp welder so I believe my machine is up to the task, I'm concerned about myself  ;D  Thanks and keep the pictures coming...

I had no experience when I started. I practiced a lot on scrap pieces and started with the floors, thinking that they would show the least when finished. With sheet metal it really becomes a matter of tacking it off about 3 inches apart and then coming back and splitting the difference with tack welds until you have a continuous joint. You definitely need to shine a bright light behind the joint to ensure you have a solid seam. I plan on using Metal 2 Metal over each of the joints to ensure no pin holes as recommended by Drop Top.

My welder is a Hobart 175 which I run at the lowest power setting. Your 125 Amp machine will certainly be adequate for any sheet metal work.

Thanks, I have never heard of that metal 2 metal, I will definetley have to keep that in mind.  I have some scrap sheet metal that I do need to play with and I was going to start on floor pans too like you so I could get as much practice in before I started on quarter panels...

cudaken - My shop is one I built out back to house the motor home and to give me space for a wood shop and an auto repair area.  So far it has worked out real good. It is 35 x 50.

I was noticing the long piece you welded that goes from one sail panel to the other, the bottom of the rear window.  Did you find this patch somewhere, or did you just cut up a complete panel for this patch...Scott

I cut up an complete panel from Year One for the patch. I used the the rest of the panel for patching various holes. Kind of expensive patching sheet metal but I didn't want to replace the whole panel just to fix the rusted out lower window frame.

It's been a long time since I posted any progress pictures.

Below are the latest ones. Body pics are several months old.

I finally reached the point of being able to apply paint. I started with component pieces and moved on to the dash. The suede paint for the dash is from autocolorlibrary.com and looks great. The suede finish comes out soon after you spray it on.
