I just put in 355 gears in my rear end posi ,and took out the old 276 gears.Now my speedo is out so I phoned a tranny shop today to get the proper plastic gears for the tranny they needed to know my tire size which is 255/60R15 and what the gears were 3.55 and the total diameter of the tire 213 cms(83 7/8 inches) and how many teeth on the gear in my tranny behind the speedo cable does any one know this off hand it is a 68 727 that had a 318 in it and 2.76 gears anyone know how many teeth on this gear thanks Lee

I'm not sure but need to ask how much difference did you notice in power with the 3.55's ?   I'm changing my 2.76 out and was thinking the 3.55 would be a big difference in making the car quicker and still go down the freeway OK.   Thanks, Chuck..........

I went from no posi to posi and also it felt like an extra 100 horses behind it I think the difference in the speedo is now 90 miles an hour is the new 60 because also when I put new tires on it came with 14s and I switched to 15s it was a 255/60R15 so that can throw it out too lots of varibles.

I have 3.55 with 275/60/-15 and use a 35 tooth gear.   

Engine turns about 3000rpm at 70mph .

Lee's setup calls for a 35 tooth pinion, flyinglow should have a 33.

   I guess my car is faster than I thought.  Gas milage is better too    :
