Sounds like it's a go with Pontiac. When I say go I mean gone.   :slap:

Pontiac, your late-'70s Firebirds will live on in trailer parks everywhere. :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big:

I say goodbye old friend. You were a great performance challenge. :icon_smile_big:
I think Saturn should be killed off, not Pontiac. :Twocents:

Trivia:
I briefly owned a 1970 Goat....black, 400 fourspeed, Cragar mags, Ram Air, hood tach...pretty damn sweet.
I traded my first car, a very rusty 1969 340 Barracuda plus $100 for it at a local used car lot. I made out like a bandit!!
Until my Dad saw it in the yard.
Then he made me take it back. He figured I was getting screwed in the deal. Well, he definitely didn't know anything about cars.
I lost my $100 bucks, and the torsion bar crossmember fell out of the Barracuda on the highway less than a month later.
Thus ending the Barracuda saga.

Frig Dad!! :flame:

It's sad like when Plymouth was fazed out. Firebirds and Trans Am's/Formula's have always been in my top 3 favorite cars. :'(

And I still think in the long run, GM will regret closing Pontiac as at least here in Wisconsin, they sell tons of them. I love the new G8 Pontiac. Wish I had the cash to go buy one now.

Buick is like Lexus in foreign countries. :yesnod: They won't kill them unless things get really bad...

My first 2 cars were Pontiacs. The first one was a 1976 Catalina 4 door land barge. The 2nd was quite a bit cooler. The ads boasted it has the longest hood of any car and was the first car with the antenna in the windshield. Any guesses?
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

'Tis a sad day in the muscle car world...I am going to miss Pontiac.
This has been my DD for the last 5 years.  I'll probably replace her within the next month or two.

My buddy's Bandit II just doubled in price.

Wish I still had that 68 Firebird.  GD women!!!

I have always loved Trans Ams.  I have owned seven of them total. I currently own this 1981 Pace car, which is currently for sale by the way  :icon_smile_big:. I have been expecting this for a couple years now. It is to bad.

Yes

I sold that car for $350 and have regretted it since. My dad was with me when I test drove that car, and when I tried to get out, I couldn't find the door handle. I finally found it tucked down in the armrest.  My dad said that's so the girls can't get away   .

Ditch Buick and save Pontiac. If the Commies want comfort, tell them to get a Caddy.

Very sad to see Pontiac go out like this.  :icon_smile_dissapprove: I have owned a few in the past. My senior year of high school I drove a 69 GTO. 400ci/4-Speed car. Great Machine!

Farewell Pontiac  :patriot:
Really sad, I liked their cars and history.

RIP.

My friends dad worked at Pontiac and retired from there.   Obviously nothing but Pontiacs in their garage.

I've had my share of poontiacs over the years.
'67 Catalina,  '76 Grand Prix, '80 Grand Prix,  '83 Firebird.   Still have both an '89  Formula and '90 GTA.

I guess the actual reality of the sales figures killed it.   I'd always thought that GM should have killed off Buick years ago instead of Oldsmobile.
Buick doesn't do it for me.

Too bad the G8 was introduced in the middle of a stupid speculator driven oil surge last year...  from all accounts it was a decent car.
Pontiac made their share of mistakes... Aztec,  4 door fwd Grand Prix's ( zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ), the all craptastic Fiero,  301 Turbo motors,  the 74 GTnOva,  403 Olds motors in 6.6 TA's,  the list goes on.
Black Betty:  1969 Charger R/T - X9 440 six pack, TKO600 5 speed, 3.73 Dana 60.

Old Moparz

I liked the earlier Pontiacs before they got the huge, ugly noses up front. By the 1969 & 1970 models, I pretty much decided that they were too ugly to like.

There was a guy in high school that graduated a couple of years before me that had a 1964 GTO convertible. It was pretty cool looking, & had a brand new, leather interior. Since he spent more on the upholstry than the car was worth, he never did anything else to it. I remember seeing him in the auto shop with it once & there were vise grips instead of battery terminals. He also had these two, huge, house speakers that took up the entire back seat.

This isn't his in the photo, his was gold with a tan interior & a white top.

The GTO option on the Tempest allways gets credit for being the first muscle cars and i totally disagree but there are several mid to late '60s Ponchos that are among my favorites, first up would probably be a convertable tripower 2+2 then various Grand Prixs and Bonnies and of course the more choice early trans am though I don't particularly care for the '69 I'd Jump all over a '70!  :drool5: that's Probbably my Fav.

Ghoste

Always had a soft spot for Firebirds and sold Pontiacs for a number of years as well.  Very very sad to see them go.
