Has anyone ever had their car "thermal stripped'

Looking at all options for stripping, and came across thermal stripping. Apparently they put it in an oven at 400 degrees and whala....no paint. I would be concerned with warping....anyone had it done?

I've never heard of it myself, warping would be a concern to me as well without first hand evidence.

I know warping can occur using a sander if you move to slow when stripping a car so I would think and oven at 400 degrees would be extremly bad.

If the heat is increased gradually in small increments to reach 400 there may be no warping as if it would probably warp if it were just shoved in an oven already at 400 degrees.

Wait! they're saying 800 degrees. Man, I don't know.... thats hot. They're showing Challenger in the video that went through the process.

It still leaves me nervous to watch it.  I think I'd have to pass.

It would be fine as long as it is heated and cooled gradually...the concern is with differential heating (and cooling). Different thickness panels/frame members/etc. would all be all be at the same temperature so there is no uncontrolled expansion and thus warping of the metal (there cannot be any different material (glass, rubber, insulation, etc.) in the oven, of course) 75 degrees in your garage or 400 degrees in an oven...it is how you get to that temperature that matters. Paint and coatings would not really matter as any insulating effect would be negated by the slow temperature changes and resulting carbonization of any organics.
