I'm looking for some information regarding UHAULs. When you rent a trailer, do they give you chains with it? Also, where's the best places to put the chains on a '69 Charger and '73 Duster?

Yes, they have nice trailers with straps that go over the tires and hold it in place great.  :2thumbs:  I put straps around the rear axle.    NOT THE FRAME !

Good :2thumbs: We're moving this summer so I have to move the Charger and Duster. On another note, I get to help design and build the new garage :D

Do a search - I think I've answered this several times. I used to tow all my cars with U-Haul trailers until I bought my own. One thing you have to be conscious of is the tow vehicle. If anything, tell them your towing a Duster - don't mention the Charger.

Oh, and the straps only go around the front wheels. I'd also use a chain or heavy straps around the rear axle. Whatever you do, don't load your Charger backwards.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Used them too and had no problems.  Towed a 31 Ford to Maryland from South Carolina and brought a Challenger back.  I've seen a couple of times when people used ratchet type straps on the frame, bumper, or whatever they could hook into only to have them pop because they don't realize that the car will still move on it's suspension. Just watch one being towed on a flat bed.  Another consideration is the optional insurance if you have a long distance to go and if your vehicle insurance doesn't cover towing.

UHaul will dictate the type of vehicle you're towing it with too. Basically unless you have a full size pickup or SUV they won't let you use one of their trailers.

this sounds silly in theory, but MAN it is GOOD advice! do NOT tow one backwards. made that mistake once back in the day, had to go 60 it was scary as hell. even with a good extended cab 4wd truck. anything over 60 was sway city

They wouldn't let me get a trailer to haul my Charger with a F-150, but two years before that they let me get one to two my first car (1967 Belvedere II) with the same exact truck.   :brickwall:
