As most of you know I've been distributing the '71 Cuda Grilles for Premire Plastics.   The owner is using my NOS '69 Grille to do the mold.   He quoted me a Retail price for the '69 Center at $599, and I thought that was very high, but look at what this one is going for...   Do you still think that is asking too much?   Keep in mind he is paying for the new mold, his design time, and the new High-Pressure ABS plastic injection machinery...

maybe I am cheap but, $599 still seems high to me and I would definately not pay what the one on Ebay is going for either.

My problem is you still need the headlight doors, headlight surrounds, the framework, and all the trim on top of the center piece. I might be a little bias as I have several complete grilles on the shelf so my need is probably less than some other buyers.

I would think $300-400 for the center and $600-700 for the complete plastic grill setup(less trim and frame) would keep your friend very busy.  :Twocents:

I would tend to agree with 694spdRT but I understand the cost of production but still at around $400 you should slowly begin to recoup the initial costs, I would not mind having extra parts incase of the unknown

JimShine

I would buy one at $400. Even though mine is fine, it would be nice to have one fresh and not brittle.

Shakey

Even if it were $600.00 CDN, it would be me last resort.

Still nice to know they will be available.

Charger4404spd

Yeah too much. But if I HAD to have one, who knows. I think if he can keep the prices as low as possible, more would be sold regardless of who REALLY needed on.

Charger Aficionado

I do know the planned cost for a complete '69 Grille was $750ish...   Keep the comments comming...  I will email this to PPR.

Seems a bit pricey...   repros don't automatically qualify for the big $ that an original / nos type piece gets.   Even if he has spent $ on tooling.    For that price that he's asking I would expect the entire grill - up to the headlight doors.

Anyway case in point - the LandP repro center console...    attractively priced at $239/$249.    That's more in line with what I'd expect to pay for a nice repro.

What if it wasn't a repop but instead was a brand new piece still available from Chrysler?  What if that was the only source but you didn't care because you could still buy them new?  What would you pay then?  If DCX wanted 600 for it would it be worth it then because it said Mopar on the box?
Just asking.

Charger Aficionado

HOLY Moly.   All I have to say is "WOW" :
Winning bid: US $1,435.00

I'd be happy with that for my NOS center...  If I were selling it.

What is that old saying about fools, and their money...?

$1,450 for a center? That is absolutely crazy. I just cleaned out my garage yesterday and put 5 more centers up in the attic. Which is now housing 14 complete assemblies, and 14 other center's, and 20 pairs of the outer pieces. I guess next year I should get some of those parts out of the attic, and put them up on ebay, and get enough money to keep my video company going.

What would be the difference between this piece and the reproduction one available from Year One at:

http://www.yearone.com/serverfiles/part.asp?pid=NP200&c=0&e=0&cat=1&hid=120AF5183

The piece at year one is the chromed trim I-piece.  the piece fifth is talking about is the actual grill center section.

Guess there is a person out there that is willing to pay just about whatever you want for just about any single part on these cars.

Hey Charger Aficionado, how is the restoration of the 500 coming along? your not still thinking of selling it are you?

I BELEIVE THIS IS FOR TRIM ONLY FOR $400.00, THIS HE IS OFFERING IS THE COMPLETE CENTER SECTION OF THE 69 GRILLE!!! :icon_smile_wink:

Old Moparz

Jude,

I agree, the price is a bit steep for just the center section. If he can do the entire '71 Cuda grille for one price, the Charger grille should be the same price with the headlight surrounds. Shipping should be a hell of a lot easier & cheaper with the Charger grilles.

I have a question for you. Why are you so concerned with the past ebay grille auctions being private?

Better do it now Danny before the repros come out!

Sold for $1599.00? I need to part my Charger out? Son of a Bi-tch I would have guess $700.00.

If list and say it sat behinde a Hemi Charger does it make it worth more :icon_smile_big:

any one need parts? ;D Ken
I am back

69_500

With them bringing that kind of money maybe I need to make another trip up to the attic this weekend and bring about half a dozen of them down. Knowing my luck though mine would only get bid up to about $100.

Oh, I did those private for the seller's benefit.   I did the last four as public, at the request of moparts members.   Restorations by Julius gave a nice positive feedback on it! :)

The '69 Grille will take 5 molds to make vs. the one for the 'Cuda.
