I have been thinking about swapping out my 383 with a 426 hemi and wondering if anyone has done this on a 3rd generation.  I know I can get modified engine mounts for it, what else would need to be changed/upgraded?  Any suggestions on where I might be able to get one at a decent price?

thanks

It has most certainly been done and unless they've dropped it, Mopar even makes a new Hemi block with provisions for the non Hemi engine mounts.  Your existing trans will bolt up but obviously I can't speak for it's ability to handle a power increase.  Ditto for the rearend.
It isn't quite as simple as buy the crate engine and spend an afternoon doing a swap but it almost is.  The biggest hangups come in the details; for example the Hemi will want a lot more fuel thrown at it so the existing fuel lines may be inadequate.  The existing front suspension may not be enough to deal with the extra weight.  Will your brake booster and master cylinder interfere?  Things like that.
As for sources, there are a variety of places that offer Crate Hemi engines now and I'm not the one to tell you which is the best.
