if hes so worried about selling it , why is he asking $2400.00  :slap:

1967 baracuda sale or trade. heading for the big smasher in the sky - $2400

67 cuda(fast back) very very restorable.the frames are solid, torque box is solid, drivers floor pan needs replaced, spare wheel area needs replaced i have this pannel listed it once! Does it drive?  If it does, then that's probably a fair asking price (sold my 67 notch for $2500 a few months ago, with a A body 8 3/4 thrown in the deal), and I probably could have gotten more out of it.

Hell, the 8 3/4 alone in that car is worth $500.  Those are hard to come by for A bodies.

Looking closer at the pics, looks like a 68, with a 67 grill.  Or, he added 68 sidemarkes and taillights.  Wish it wasn't covered in snow, then I'd be able to see the hood inserts.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

yep , i think its a 68 also or its a 67 with a 68 front clip  :shruggy: im guessint it dont run . and i highly doubt its an 8 3/4 rear .

anyway how i read it is he wants to get rid of it . if hes going to crush it , the scrap price cant be more tha $500.00

I'm willing to bet that he only stated he's going to crush it, in hopes someone will just pay his full asking price to save it.  I doubt he'll crush it, and if he does, he's a moron.

If I was closer, and had the money to spend, I'd definitely check it out, though.

He's yanking your chain with the crusher threat.

not my chain , i could care less . however i would give him a few $$ over the scrap price . if he was offered $2400..00 for it he should have taken it . i dont belive for a second he was ever offrered that kind of money , my guess is hes just antother doushe that thinks he has something worth a ton of $$$ . and now his wife is on his ass to get it out of the yard .  :slap:

So, by offering him scrap price plus maybe a bit more, you're calling his bluff.  :2thumbs:

I say do it.

What's he going to argue? "I'm willing to give it up to the crusher for about $500 but I want YOU to pay me $2400 to save it!"

or better, go find the crusher he's taking it to and cut a deal with them to get it for 750 when he drops it off.  :smilielol:

Anyway you slice it, his thinking is flawed.

Ghoste

I second the motion, call his bluff.  Whats the worse that could happen; he says "deal" and you end up with a 67 Barracuda for a little over scrap price?

Oh boy, another one of these white trash idiots trying to manipulate people into handing them more cash than they deserve. Does it make sense to anyone that he would turn down $2,400 only to get less than $500 in scrap? Don't fall for his line of BS.

FLG

Thats like trying to sell up!

If i post an add "Buy this charger for 2k before it goes to the scrap yard" you will get LOWER prices since people know your willing to give it up for a couple of hundred...idiots!

well is somebody hads him $2400.00 because he make this threat of having it crushed is a bigger idiot than he is .

i have a few rules i set for buying or walking away from a sale

#1 MUST SELL
#2  well the guide book says its worth this much = its a guide and most of the time ITS WRONG
#3 " i seen this on ebay for this much " = me asking do you sell on ebay ? " NO "

ive done a ton of yard sales , flea markets , estate sales , auctions & buying from the craigslist . i have gotten alot of great deals but lately its been tough . last summer i hit a total of 3 of the above because dealing with morons got to overwhelming .

im not saying i expect to get stuff for free altough it is nice to get it dirt cheap .  :icon_smile_big:
but for gods sake do not expect me to pay the retail price when you tell me something stupid like " must sell " " i need the money " " i need the room " and now " its going to the crusher in 6 days "

Unfortunately, I've met such a idiot in real life.
He owned a salvage yard near where I lived in Manitoba.
His name was Jim and he was part owner in a bodyshop, a restaurant, as well as being a firefighter.
If somebody asked if he had a particular car, or part, he was very nice right up to the point where you asked for a price. He usually gave a completely unrealistic price, just to get a rise out of you.
If you did so much as voice even the smallest complaint, or counter-offered, he'd destroy the car by backing over it with his bulldozer...or drop the part on the floor and smash it with his foot.
Other than that very odd quirk, he was a very nice guy.

Fortunately for me...he liked me. I bought a running 1974 Charger SE with a 440 off of him for $100!!
Jim died of cancer in 2000.
I still have his 1 7/16 socket...meant to return it to him. :'(

I say that's a bit odd.

I'd call it asinine, with the accent on the first syllable.

Magnum, I'd be worried if a pr*%k like that thought I was an ok guy.

When I was just starting out, I used to work for a guy like that. One time I remember, someone asked him how much for an old Mini Cooper trunklid. When he said thirty pounds, the guy said, "No that's too much - I'll give you fifteen." My boss says "Ok, fifteen it is!" Then drops it on the floor, stamps on it, picks it up and offers it to him. "NOW it's worth fifteen quid." Guy was a fool.

Imagine what he was like if I screwed up...  :RantExplode:
