What kind of computer gadgets are there to transfer records using my turntable to Cd's and my old Beta HiFi tapes to DVDs?

WingCharger

I know record players exist to transfer them to digital. Just google it. I don't know about BETA tapes? :scratchchin:

Khyron

There is a place on central Ave near Resnicks that does that.... maybe go in and ask?

Ya mabey they might have something to buy

I have a Toshiba dvd recorder and I just plug the vcr outlet into one of the dvd recorders inlets and hit play and record.
As for the music stuff, that is my next project but I haven't decided what to buy yet.  There are a few devices out there to do it and currently I'm looking at one by Teac.

I have one of these: http://www.ionaudio.com/ionttusb10 (They can be found for less $$, though)

Works as advertised. The one thing that I found to be a problem is that you end up with one large MP3 file that contains the entire album side.
That's as expected, but the software that comes with the turntable doesn't have a feature to easily break it up into individual songs.

So, you either have to come up with a process to do one song at a time or get a program that will let you split a large file into smaller ones. There are lots that can do that though. I had one called Cool MP3 Splitter that was great, but it doesn't seem to work anymore and the company seems to be gone - or at least not answering support questions. I have TotalRecorder that does a great job, but the splitting function is more of a manual process.

I've got nothing for BETA tapes, but the same company makes a VHS to PC device. http://www.ionaudio.com/vcr2pc

About the only thing I could suggest is if you still have a BEAT player, you could hook it up to a video capture device - something like the Dazzle line of products: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4088245&Sku=P121-8196

You can get those ION units for about $149 - Brookstone has 'em, even - maybe less elsewhere...

I should have mentioned before that you don't have to use the software that comes with it if you have something else that will record. bout the only must have feature is the "pop and click" removal. But good audio recording software will have that as well.

Crosley has a unit that will rip a vinyl LP right to CD - all in one no PC required.

I think Hammacher's is actually the same as what Crosley offers: http://www.hammacher.com/qsearch/default.asp?query=mediaconversion&promo=homepage_hero_sidekick_CA
