My Snowboarding in Vail, Colorado...Pics and Video

So two of my old college friends and i went to Colorado for two days of snowboarding at Vail.  Your first question is probably, "how did your spouse let you go while she watches 3 kids under 4 for 3 days?" and my answer is, i'm marred to the coolest woman on earth.   Even my married friends asked me why i got to go and how....  They all know my spouse is the coolest.  But, i will be paying for a weekend for her to spend in New York shopping with her best friend who lives in Brooklyn.  I dont mind at all...   :yesnod:

Anyways... we get to the Enterprise rental car at the Denver airport and we get a Dodge (ofcourse) minivan.  The guy pumps up the half flat tire and says, you're good to go!  25 miles away its flat as a pancake.  We put on the spare and call in, they tell us to just bring it back and we'll get you another rental car.  We say that we just passed another enterprise rental car place and they tell us to take it there if we want and they will exchange it.

We get to the other rental place and its in the strip mall and they only have one of each car but no vans.  So we can take it to "the big O" tire center and get it fixed and be on our way.  They tell is to go south on kipling street and turn left where the napa used to be.  Hello!  we have a rental car, we're not from here, we dont know where napa used to be.!  So we end up on Colfax Ave and find "the big O".  they tell us they dont have the tire in stock and it will be a couple hours... We ask, which way to the nearest bar?

Now, Colfax Ave is not the nicest part of town, from what we observed.   We walk up to the bar as we pass boarded up buildings, hooker motels, etc... we finally fine "T-Bones bar", there is the signature IROC Camero out front and my friend says, "we're gonna get killed in this place!".   We walk in and everyone turns to look at us and we were the only ones without multiple tattoos in the bar.

After awhile some drunk lady walks into the bar and the bartender runs around by our table and promtly kicks this lady out.  She then turns to us and i ask, "can we stay?" she says, "oh you Minnesota boys are just fine"...  After an hour and a half we were on our way and everyone in the bar loved us...  So we didnt mind the stop, we were either going to sit in a bar in Frisco or sit in a bar here in town anyways...

Anyways, we get out to Vail on Friday and my friends are not tree snowboarders.  I am, so i break off on one run on the East side of Blue Sky Basin and i end up out of bounds and almost went over a 50ft drop.  Shown in the 4th picture.  We watched the RSN channel in our hotel room of guys that do this every day, but i am not in the shape i was 10 years ago, so i took off my board and climbed back inbounds...

I'm sorry, but aren't you supposed to come down standing on the snowboard, not like gliding down the slope on your face

Looks like you guys had a good trip, nothing is more fun than a roadtrip with your best buddies

Other than the car troubles, did you have a good time?

Got anymore photos from the ski hills?   :shruggy:

Did you come across any nicer lookin' girls than the one pictured above?   :scratchchin:

I'd like to hear more about your adventures on the slopes.  Good skiing/boarding?

1. We had such a good time i cant write about it for my own safety...   :D

2. I dont have anymore photos from the ski hill.  I have several from years past so i didnt feel the need to take anymore.

3. Oh there were definitely ski bunnies out there..  See #1.

4. There was no new snow while we were there, it was still good though, but every run was skiied out.  I like to get in the trees more because you can still get untouched powder there.  The place was packed with people and there was an average 15 minute wait to get on a lift.  We rode up on a lift once with a guy who has been to the swiss alps and he said it was about the same as here in the rockies.  I did do a good deed for the day, there were two old guys with "senior" on their lift tickets who were trapped in the moguls.  One guy couldnt get up and the other guy couldnt reach him to help.  So i snowboarded over to them and helped pull them back up so they could get to the blue run.  They were thankful and i felt good that i was able to help someone out.

When I read of the list of problems you guy were having there at first, I thought for sure you were gonna say you wrapped yourself around a tree & are now in a body cast. :smilielol:

Looks like a good time was had by all.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Looks like you guys had a great time. I'll talk to you later about #3 when you don't have to worry about #1. :2thumbs:

$97   :eek2:   :eek2:   :eek2:  It hurts even more when you cant get your friends out of bed before 10:00am and you end up paying $97 for 4 hours of snowboarding...   :brickwall:  :brickwall:  :brickwall:  :brickwall:
