Can an engine be installed by it's self, without the tranny being in the car?  All that would be holding it in place is the 2 motor mounts, correct?  Is that enough to support a 440, the beast that it is.   :shruggy:

I was hoping to install together, but now I have a tranny issue to resolve first.  But, I need the engine in to get my exhaust hung.  Got a dead line.    :icon_smile_big:

Yes, you can do it, but you should support the engine and not rely on the 2 motor mounts.  I usually put a support under the rear of the block, where the transmission mounts.   A friend of mine supports his in the front of the engine.   He puts a strap over the front balancer and around the bracket that attaches between the K frame and the radiator support.
