So I Go To This Repair Shop...

Today I drove the Charger to a repair shop to get it running just right. I was referred to there by an original owner of a '74 360 4-speed 'Cuda. So I got there and there is this really nice older man that owns it. I have been outside the shop before but never inside. Outside there are slot mags in various places, the 'Cuda guy said he even has some Hemis and A-833's stashed in trailers. Anyway, so I am inside looking around with him, there are engine blocks everywhere I think one or two 440's, he shows me this beautiful green and yellow AMX that he restored, really nice car. We walk into his shop more and he shows me his drag car, tube chassis with a pontiac body, it runs 7.50 but he says it should run around 7.40 to be competitive. Then, tucked in the corner there is this low profile sports car thing. I asked what it was and he said a Detomaso Mangusta. He said it was the predecessor to the Pantera. Turns out only 400 were built and only 201 are accounted for. I forgot my camera. I am going back on Tuesday to drop off the Charger.

And in the yard are a couple Novas and a Camaro. The guys son has a 340 powered Toyota pickup.

What's wrong with your engine? Did you put a cam in or?

It just doesn't like to run good, and occasionally misfires. I went there last week and he set the timing, I had it set a 52*

if that's the case and your timing is set just concentrate on plugs, cap & wires and then you can handle hat. Could be the carb though too. Just trying to save you some  :2thumbs:cash

I'm Familiar with that Mangusta, Always wanted one but Prefer a Pantera GTS or GT-5. LEON.

And I just searched the guys name online and it looks like he was awarded wrench of the year in the 1999 NHRA Northeast Division.

I remember the Mangusta from my HO slot car racing days.

Did not know it was dad to the Pantera.
