The wife and I have been talking and we think Montana is going to be our new home.  I dont have the first idea of where is the best place for us or what the names or any towns are.  All I know is the state looks good and we have heard lots of great things about it.

We want to live some place remote but near main roads I guess.  We are country people and love the out doors.  Does anyone have any recomendations or names of some small towns we might want to look at?

thanks.

It really depends on what is really important to you.  Do you have school age kids? Are you planning on retiring?  The housing market is down slightly here compared to the rest of the country, approximately 20% in my neighborhood and as much as 30% for the high end homes.  The job market is tough, tough,..........

East of Bozeman is very dry and flat, east versus west.  The west half of the state has many mountain ranges and available land is finite and expensive.  Any place in Montana is great to live for the right person.  Sometimes you won't see a neighbor for weeks or months while sometimes your neighbor will always be there bugging you about your charger.

Do a google earth search of Montana and get a look at the differences across the state.  Check out the state website, www.mt.gov, for some answers to some of your questions.  I have lived in Montana all of my life, 45 years, and don't plan on leaving.

Plus Montana is a rich environment for finding mopars in hiding.  I can answer any more questions since I have a bunch of free time.  I am laid up right now after knee surgery.  This site will give you an idea for some of the towns.  http://travel.mt.gov/tripplanner/wheretogo/destinations.asp

There is a Montana magazine that is available on the Montana dot gov website.
