Tuffy is right. The coronet site is nearly dead. I've been a member there forever and it has slowed to a post or two a day. Sometimes less. I don't know why, but it is a shame..

I am a die hard Coronet lover. I don't care what year it is or if it came with a leaner. In my eyes Coronets are just as badass looking as Chargers.... (Steve holds up a shield to deflect the knives). My favorite is 1965'. Next in line is 1968'.  One day I will have one...

That being said, I think you should keep what you have and know. Finish school and land a good job. The Charger isn't going anywhere and it will outlast any of today's crappola cars by 20 fold. Hell, it already has. No need to rush into anything is there?? Land the job and plant some cash in a good bank and the day will come that you will have the means to make that 1st car everything you could possibly want it to be...

That Charger will ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLWAYS be worth great money if you keep it up. Hell, it could send your kids to collage some day...

My opinion: KEEP IT.....

My first Mopar, bought it in '84ish for $2600.  This is the car I had up to 146 @ 6200 rpm on bias ply tires.  ::)  The car had gobs of torque, hit second gear and it was like getting shot out of a cannon.

Thats a good looking '68 Coronet R/T.   How come you didn't keep it (if you don't mind me asking)?

I bought it with the assumption it was #'s matching.  It had torsion bar subframe rust coming through on the driver's side and the rear quarters were one stacked on top of the rusty other one.

The wife gave me the OK to restore it but I figured I would see if it was indeed #'s.  Drivetrain came out of a '69 Charger R/T (full VIN).  I didn't want to spend a bunch of money on a non #'s car so the search resumed for a purple '70 Charger and I ended up with the V code '70 Bee that I got burned on.

The '68 supposedly stayed local & someone spent the money to have it restored.  Honestly, if I could swing it $$, I'd try to get it back.  I still have that soft spot for '68 'nets.

I have a theory about why.  So far this site has been able to stay away from what I suspect is the buzzkill over there.  A longtime member myself.

I feel the same way about '67 Coronet R/T's.  As much as I like the lines of '68-'70 Chargers, and as much as I am connected to my '70 Charger R/T, I'm afraid I'm a Coronet man at heart.

Don't be afraid.  Coronets are great cars. Most of the time they are much lighter too.....   :2thumbs:
