What would be a good torque converter to go with a COMP Cams 21-222-4 and a 3.91 rear end?

Oh and a pic of the motor which was recently finished

The new engine looks nice....good work  :2thumbs:

Ditch the logs and get a set of HP manifolds or headers.  :Twocents:

A good converter for that combo is the Turbo Action "street hemi" piece....somewhere between 2500-2800 stall depending on the torque output of your engine.  :yesnod:

i talked to the machinist who put the combination for the motor on a simulated dyno and it is suppose to be producing around 350 horse and  450 ft lb of tourqe without headers and intake change... does that dictate what the stall should be at all?

UPDATE
talked to a man named Paul from turbo action

he recommended the 17-805 st... what do you guys think?

I like the 17801 for your combo.....this is mostly a street car and your cam matches up better with a 2800-3000 stall speed.  :Twocents:

is there a certain 17801 which would be better.... in the the way there is a 17805s but the guy recommended an 17805st.

The 17805 st is a "tight" 3800 stall speed converter. The 17801 is rated at 3000 stall. You might consider the 17501 which is the HD version of the 17801....rated at the same 3k stall but with stronger internals.

Paul is sharp but he's used to dealing with racers trying to maximize their performance and streetability is usually low in the priority list (for those guys)

I would phone back and order the 17501 and tell him you need 3000 stall.  :Twocents:
