+1.  Go through the fuel system, clean it all up & kit the carb.  You'll have it running good soon enough.

Looks like ya got a bargain :drool5:

that car is fairly rare.

We know that there were only 409 1970 Charger 500 V8 cars built with CRT5 SE interior...so it is 1 of 409

Now the V1G Gator Grain top only came on 4.8% of 70 500 V8 models so assuming all being equal that results in 1 of 20 70 500 V8 SE CRT5 V1G cars.

:scratchchin: :scratchchin: :scratchchin:

My Donor car was/is a '70 500 SE with the tan leather interior...It came with a gatorgrain top, 383 4bbl, auto/console, A/C, AM/FM disc brakes, etc. most of which were gone when I bought the car for it's front fenders and hood for my Daytona clone....I wonder how rare this old rustbucket is  :scratchchin:

It's pretty much junk now :eek2:

Is that BL1 beige paint?   Only 490 made if yes. Factor in SE, CRT5, Gatorgrain, 383-4, AM/FM.......yes it is rare. Bad Daytona R/T SE...bad.....you go to your room and you think about what you have done.  :slap: :nana:

i would have bought that car easily for 20k, in looking at the vin number, it is only a couple numbers off from mine.  I also know the seller, and he is a good guy. I wanted to see the car in person but never got the chance to before it was sold. I also agree with all that was said before, you did not get a bad deal, and remember it is 38 years old and will need some maintenance wich is to be expected. I would put some time into it and if your still not happy with it, put it back on ebay- im sure you would have no problem getting your money back out of it.

Thanks to everyone for thier support. I dont debate the fact that it does have nice options, or its value. I just dont want to open up the can and find a bunch of worms. I have a feeling after the car sat for so long it probably wasnt primed before start up. The seller had told me a push rod was bent at start up,  :brickwall: hard to bend one of those...you have to think the same thing that caused the valve to stick, what would it have done to the rings....I am sending it to a mechanic to flush the fuel system out, I have an extra tank, get a compression test, vacuum test, ect. After that hopefully the motor will be running, and a new engine wiring harness will helpout. :popcrn: I have to note when I got it, the farthest this drove was a half a block then konked out, and had the power of a lawn mower.

With the CRT5, V1G and V21 combo it could be 1 of 1....cannot prove it but it is rare. Doesn't make it worth more really..but rare nonetheless.

I have to agree with everyone else here. Decent car for the money and looks to have some nice options. Is it possible you may be having a little buyers remorse over the fact that you spent 20K and it's not perfect.  I think just viewing the pictures you got a decent deal.  Now let's diagnose those engine issues and get you on the road to happy land.  It won't take long.  Probably a new cap, rotor, Firecore plug wires from Ron(made by Custom  Wire Sets and Performance Products) , some NGK XR5 plugs, and dial her in timing wise and you will be all set.  Other quick things to perform would be flushing the coolant, an oil change, fuel filter change etc.... all cheap and mandatory things to do when you purchase a ride off someone else regardless.
Looks like you did pretty well for yourself.

true, these are all things you would want to do anyways,   then buff out the paint with some light compound and wax it with some McGuires 26 and car will look sweet.  the pic of the engine looks good, must be a sitting long time/tune up issue, if that's the original mileage on the engine, you would think it probably isn't a worn out motor

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

The more I look at the car the more I like it as well. I think when you get it running good and correct the things in the engine bay that aren't as they should be, you just may feel completely different about the car. Good luck with it.  :Twocents:

It's a fair deal.  As for being mad, It depends on how in depth you questioned the seller on how it ran, when it ran, when it was regularly driven, about the shifting, the gears, brakes, electrics, switches, lights, etc.
I had a 70 R/T 440cu in, same FT6 with FT6 interior back in early 90's and the 10 hole rallye wheels.   It's a rare color combo as only about 250 R/T's were made with either that color , or that interior color.
There was a dude i met who had an FT6 SE w/ white interior and the 383, nice car also

I hope you keep it that color scheme, to me it looked like a big brown shark ready to cruise the reef and gobble up other cars.   ;D

Looks like the intake was painted , so probably it has been off before , maybe gasket seal, i'd bet on a good chance of non original carb on it.  that could be a factor,  exhaust plugged maybe ?

Pictures always are tricky, but the look of the interior alone supports the claim of 77K miles.
