TruckDriver

Well, here is the Kenworth I mentioned earlier. A friend up where the truck is stopped by yesterday, and grabbed these pics and the phone number on the truck. He also said this,

'86 W900...425 CAT (not sure if it's an A or B model), 13 speed, 60% drives/60 steers (no name cheapy tires on front), 8 bag air ride. Forgot to look to see what rears are in it.

Overall the truck looks OK for it's age. needs a little paint/polish. Good price... $10,500 but I bet you could buy it cheaper than that. Last registered 2005...

He also said that I'd have to drain and flush the fuel tanks to remove the old fuel otherwise it will plug up the fuel system after sitting so long.

I tried to call this morning, and got a answering machine. So, I hope I get a call back on it soon. I'll keep you updated. My friend Rick said that if I lease on where he is, I'd have it paid off in the fall already if I get a $20,000 loan for it.

He called me back on his cell. Anyway, he bought it after the original owner died. At that point, it sat a while already. It was a cattle hauler. It does have a 15 speed, not a 13. And the engine was replaced with a newer one, and only has around 125,000 on it. The guy who bought it, bought it on a splurge, and doesn't really need it. That is why he is selling it. Supposabley, there is another guy interested in it, but he hasn't talked to him in a while. He said considering the trucks age, it rides nice and quiet going down the road. Not to many rattles either.

The hard part is going to be getting the financing. I don't know of to many places that will finance a 22 year old truck. That, and I my credit is not perfect. I'm still trying to fix what my ex left me with. :P

You should join http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/forum01/ if you like the older trucks. There are posts of every year truck, but there are threads just for the classic rigs. I been a member there for almost 3 years now. I go by my name there though, Pete B.

Occasionally, someone will post up a truck for sale that they passed on the side of the road. There is a post with a '80s Frieghtliner with a big bunk on it for sale like what your looking for, but I can't find it now. I was posted a few months ago. :P

have you ever been to the iola wis  car show  ever year a guy brings a kenworth that looks like the one on the tv show moving on . he also has a kenworth vit like the one on bj and the bear. the actor who played bj was there last year signing autographs thetruckshavebeen coming there for at least five years

TruckDriver

I never been there. But I do know for a fact that the Movin' On KW & B.J. & The Bear KW are the real trucks that survived from the tv shows. The guy who owns them has a large truck collection on the west side of the state. He also had those down here in the Allenton car show last year, and at the Waupun truck show last year too. There is one other remaining truck from the tv show Movin' On (out of the 6 originals) that is still out there being used on a farm as a regular work truck. I have pictures of it hooked up to a bottom dump.

472 R/T SE

When I left Kansas I moved out to the Bay area to drive for a custom cutter who had some trucks out there running LTL up and down California.  I drove a round headlight KW short hood, big sleeper that came from the factory with a KT600 motor originally.  It had a 400 Cummins when I run it.  I'd never run one of those KT motors but heard lots of stories.

One of his other trucks was a 359 Pete with a silver 92 & Allison.  That was his wife's rig.  IIRC, those long hood KW's usually had KT or V8 Cats in them.

Lowprofile

I'd love to have one of these "007 KW's

Well, I can't find no one to finance a 23 year old truck.  >:(

Not a surprize in todays economy, plus the fact my credit isn't perfect. So, even though I'm not giving up on my own business, I am putting it on hold for now to buy another muscle car. In fact, I'm calling on one tomarrow already :yesnod:

That KW007 looks like it's front bumper is going to bottom out sooner or later.  Especially on todays rough roads.
