gas tank questions

i took out my gas tank 2day and  going 2 be putting in my new one. i have 1 quetion my charger used 2 have the smog canister on it and i took all the junk off and i found the return line  that used 2 be conected 2 it and i was wondering if i could take all the lines off and cap off those side tubes on the tank. so i would not have 2 keep that smog crap on or do i have 2? .

anybody have any idea i dont know if i need 2 put this thing back on my car. any 3rd gen guys out their know what this is? please help!

simply... i don't know... sorry. vapors ands stuff never was installed down here in Venezuela... maybe somebody will know better.

I have that on my 71 Charger, and it is supposed to take the vapor from top corners of gas tank and direct them back via the larger hose. I thought it was changed some in 72, but that looks like mine. I know that I have considered changing the hoses on mine.

good 2 know what its is thank you , but do i have 2 keep it once i put my new gas tank in it, or can i just block off the nipples on the tank off so i dont have 2 keep that thing in my charger?
