look at that maroon cutlass in chargerfan's pic above. that proves my point.. see it's all g'd up with a ton of money sunk into it in stupid accessories? but look at that puddle of tranny fluid underneath. wait a few months and you'll see it up on blocks somewhere(takes a few months, for some reason they can go longer with  no oil/tranny fluid than you and i could even dream of). but in time there it will sit..

The guys that own them got married and had kids.   (Or had kids and got married).  Then the car gets parked in storage (just like our Dads did) for a later date.  Then when the kids are out of the house they will get these cars out again and continue playing with them..

What about the Pontiac Fieros. In 1990/1991 they were still everywhere. I worked at a Pontiac dealer at the time and we kept really busy doing recalls on them. They had two recalls, one to prevent engine fires and another to prevent brake problems. We'd go to the parts counter and ask for a "crash and burn kit". Anyway, by 1993/1994 they were all gone.

We still have some GM G bodies around here (North East) though many are senior driven and I guess in the appropriate neighborhoods, many are "donked". The most frequently seen is the Cutlass and least frequently, the Grand Prix. I'm partial to the Cutlass myself. I've got an 1988 Supreme Classic, last of the breed. It's not fast or anything but I always liked the styling and smooth ride. Tough to find one without rotted doors, trunklid,hood and/or rear frame rails.

Still a few third gen Camaros kicking around too. Some in really good shape, daily driven, some rat traps like our Mopars were in the early 80's, and some well kept toys. Not so many Firebirds/Trans Ams.

I had one of those "Muscle Car Guide" books from the 80's (like a thick magazine, not really a book) that had predictions from the authors on the last page. These dorks said "The Pontiac Fiero will be the 57 Chevy of the 90's".

I just read this post and am somewhat disappointed that no one metioned the Pinto, Luv Truck, or a Gremlin. What about the Caddy Cimeron? Tauruses seem to be disappearing now too. When was the last time you saw a Subaru Rat? or a Dodge Rampage? Where did all the Conquests go?

I think yer right Lee. We must've called his a Rat for some reason. The last time I saw it was 20 years ago. I remember my dad had a 1972/3/or4 Dodge Colt. OOOOOOO.....what about a Fairmont? We had a Fairmont station wagon way back in the way back. I had a 1974 Datsun 710. Was the first vehicle that I bought. I got it for $40, and the head was in the trunk with parts thrown in boxes and not marked. Seems like I cut grass FOREVER to buy all the parts it needed. The guys at my local Datsun dealer knew me by voice on the phone. I was there every Tuesday picking up an order and placing an order. I was 13, so that was in '84. I cranked it for the first time on New Years Day '85. I never drove it on the street, but I did drive it around the yard abunch.

I miss my old '74 Mustang II.  Never see those around anymore either.  I paid $200 bucks for mine, drove the crap out of it for 2 years and got $250 trade-in

I've also had a Ford Fairmont Futura that I liked well enough, as well as my "sleeper" '76 Granada.  I say "sleeper" because it had a 351 from the factory in it and it would flat out move.  Don't see Granada's anymore either.

Still plenty of 90's Mustang's around here, but the 70's and 80's versions are nowhere to be found.

But probably the one I most regret selling (besides my '71 Challenger) was my '79 Magnum.

Oh the Granadas!!!!!!!!! Let me guess, yours was red with a red gut or silver with a red gut. It seems  those are the only colors they came in. Let's not forget Tempos and Topaz's ( or perhaps we should forget them)

I cant believe that about the French importing Fieros. Actually, they finally got the car right in 88 with the four link rear suspension, as opposed to the backward facing Citation front end that was the rear suspension of earlier cars. Speaking of Citations, there was a time in the early nineties when you would see some Citations, quite a few Skylarks, but very few Omegas and fewer still Pheonix's. How about  the J200. What a turd!!!!!

The AMC Concord & Eagle was a good seller around here...especially the 4x4 Eagle. These things sold really well in my area, couldn't drive anywhere without seeing at least a half a dozen.
I bet it's been 5 years since I saw one on the road.
