What Would Dodge Charger People Do.

Please refrain from negative comments on Galen's Registry, I don't need to hear it.
No big deal people, the "do what you want crowed" don't post.
I know how threads get off base, this is just a understanding of numbers that's it.

I'm wondering if I should do a stock job on my 68. But still have the goodies, shhhhhhh.

Glen's research my XP29H8 for all U.S.A ordered at Hamtramck Mi

The amounts below include all U.S.A ordered XP29H8B's built at that plant only.

It has no matching anything so I will still run a 440, other than that I think I will try and find all
the parts it is missing.

Note that this reflects only the cars in his Registry.

1 of 156?  i'd do it stock also......and post lots of pics when it's done  :2thumbs:
Remember the average response time to a 911 call is over 4 minutes.

The average response time of a 357 magnum is 1400 FPS.

Would you 383 or 440 it? Still leaning towards the 440.

White walls? What kind of caps would be on it then.

There will still be all the cool stuff I already bought for it.

Disks brakes
SS springs
Frame connectors
Also:
Headers
Aluminum heads
17 Wheels for a cool stance.

I would honestly do a 471 stroker dressed like a stock 383    :2thumbs:   more power than the 440 and still looks stock - best of both worlds
1968 Dodge Charger - 6.1L Hemi / 6-speed / 3.55 Sure Grip

2013 Dodge Challenger R/T - 5.7L Hemi / 6-speed / 3.73 Limited Slip

1964 Dodge Polara 500 - 440 / 4-speed / 3.91 Sure Grip

Yeah Stuart, it's Dodge "lingo." Cruise control...  ::) Sounds kinda funny though.

Yes a stroker is likely, depends on the old green backs.

Yep...... looks like my Charger is #1.  :nana:

The rest of Hamtramck Black on Black Chargers are behind me.  ;D

Saint Louis Plant? Bring it on.

Seriously
Is this the type of tires and wheels that came on my Charger?
This is a cool model I found.

Troy

He only has 156 (383 4-bbl cars) in his registry and he's been collecting these numbers for how long? Ok, I'll refrain from posting my guesses as to why...

You can never make it "original" again but it's a cool combo so I'd make it as close to "stock" as possible. It would be neat to see the window sticker for that car (some $$$ options).

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

BB1

Thanks Troy. Pretty week numbers for H cars I agree.

I have the vin tag and the fender tag only, so I'll go by what they say.

Did 68 have (pedal dress up?) That could be nice to have irregardless.

I will put back the column shift now with the pilot controls, AC & heater controls, 8-track 5-speaker with a mp3 plug in it. All the moldings will go back on, pulleys ext...

White walls with caps for show, cool mags for driving. What else...  :scratchchin:

Galen will only give you numbers of cars/owners that have paid money to register. I am sure he has a bunch more, but he will not give that info out.

Another great reason to have a '68 Registry.

BB1

True, I'm no big fan of his registry, to much funny stuff going on there.  :Twocents:

Sublime/Sixpack

383 or 400 engine stroked, stock air cleaner with "383 Four Barrel" pie tin.  Stock wheel covers or chrome Magnum 500 rims, tires with the narrow white walls.
1970 Sublime R/T, 440 Six Pack, Four speed, Super Track Pak

No, but do it anyway.  :2thumbs: Not that big a change and only '68 experts will know (and they will cut you a lot of slack).  Edit: O.K., probably a few '69 Guru's could too....  :eyes:

And I vote for a 471.  :drool5:  If I get the funds that is what I'm going to do.  :yesnod:  A great sleeper....

And as there were over 19,000 383 4-bbls made Galen has a lot of catching up to do....  :P

472 R/T SE

The fact that it's a real black car and not originally a green, gold, yellow car would be reason enough for me.

I think you answered your own question with your #'s breakdowns', restore it back to original.  I like the 383 pie pan stealth look too.

I'd venture to guess a '68 Registry would have more cars' the first year than all the years' of GG.

Hmm, not to hijack your thread, but to extrapolate Galen's numbers means that he has "76" registered 383 4-bbl 4-speed cars. I'm reasonably sure he does not have my car in his registry (unless he does what I do and look for them on EBay, Craigslist, Hemmings, Collector Car, etc.). Wayne Wooten does have it on his registry. They only made 259 of the 4-bbl 4-speeds (74 in the 2-bbl flavor). I find that he that many in his registry very unlikely.... :scratchchin:  :P

I'm cutting and pasting some info off of my posting of 2 years ago.

http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,23609.0.html

Jezz has it been that long.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1968 Dodge Charger 383 1-4 Barrel: 19,013
1968 Dodge Charger 383 1-4 Barrel Automatic: 18,754

Btw this is all according to the 6th edition of the 1966-1968 Production Option Book by Galen Govier.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Those number looks right to me.

What the fender tag brake down looks like.

A - 1 = 26" radiator
B - 3 = cruise control.
H - 1 = power brakes
P - 6 = rear speakers
R - 0 = AM Radio
S - 1 = air conditioning
X - 1 = tinted windows only I think
a - 5 = buddy seat
b - 4 = bucket seats
h - 7 = hood signals
m - 6 = remote mirror
u - 1 = special order

Or is it u-1 = Vehicle Sales & Delivery: Sold Car / Expedite

Which one is it? a Vehicle Sales & Delivery or Special order????

Can someone tell if my Charger was a Special Order Car or not.

The console was an options, was it not?
Column shift standard?

I answered my own questions, there is a button here called (Search) I found it works great!
Sold car was ordered. I think it is rather common to have on a 68 tag.
I wish they check off power windows and power disk brakes.
