Guys, haven't posted here much but enjoy reading the board.

Six months ago I picked up a 72 440 4 speed (real U code car) Charger Rallye.  Walt at Clark's Classics in Greenville NC is doing some interior and other work on the car. It comes back to me here shortly, and then it will be time for suspension work.  Car now has a Firm Feel Stage 3 on it.

I'm doing all poly bushings, new ball joints, new tie rods, idler, pittman, etc. The big question is suspension.

I am an SCCA road racer and do occasional track days in my street cars (over the years a 91 MR2 Turbo, BMW M5, Lotus Esprit and a Lotus Exige). I really want to do the same with the Charger in addition to a 2-3 day a week daily driver.

I really like the Firm Feel guys and my first choice is go with their torsion bars (the 1.19s!), road race leafs, tubular uppers and Konis.

On the other hand, the "tuned" XV kit at $2500 is appealing as well.

Any thoughts from guys who have these or who track their cars? I know i need to work on the brakes too, but want to do suspension first, brakes this summer.

Thanks.

I plan on doing the exact thing with my '69 Charger. I'm now an SCCA member (just joined) and I plan on doing autocross track days. :2thumbs:

The XV frame stiffening and front end stuff looks pretty unbeatable.  The only downside I can see (other than cost) is the need for 17" rims.

But I was disappointed (and kind of suprised) that they didn't do an IRS for the rear end of the car, though.  It seems like that would have fit better with their overall ideology than the solid axle rear.

The AlterKtion setup seems like a huge chunk of the XV gains for a small price though.
