Well I finally did it, went down and got 2 40 series flowmaster on. I had 2 18" magnaflows and didn't like the sound at all. I have some performance manifolds on the 440 and 2 1/2" exhaust all the way out. If you want MEAN musclecar sound, this is the exhaust for you. I love it. Everytime I start the car now people look and it really makes you smile. It made a few things rattle but I can fix that. It was for sure the best $200 I have spent.

It also helped take off, before it would spin the tires some and take off, now it will spin them all the way through first and when I say spin it was smoking them. I know alot of people will argue with me but it honestly made a big difference!!!!

Cool!! :D
I wanted to put Flowmaster myself but still waiting for someone who could make a small video / sound clip of the 440 with Flowmasters.
Maybe you can?

Mark I am old, use to like loud. But my self if you need loud you need a new engine. :icon_smile_approve:

Yea I have been and use to feel sound waves bouncing off bulids when I dropped the hammer in the 68 Runner. Both the 68 Runner and the 69 Charger have Hemi Mufflers now. Cool is quite with a nasty loop from the cam that is quite.

Ever wonder why people are looking? If I walked out side naked people would be looking and getting sick :icon_smile_wink:

Sorry I sound so negative but I have out growen the toys I used to love and have moved on to toys I now have. I will give you this, Flow Basterds sound good. But my self could not live with them. I use to drive the Runner every day, the glass packs just wore me out.

Glad you like them, and that is all that is important.

They shouldnt be that bad exiting out the rear of the car. When they dump in front of the rear axle they might make you a little loopy.

so you guys are telling that those Flowmasters are mean sounding mufflers but they vibrate a lot, give a drone inside the car and drive you crazy cruising at 40 miles an hour?

Here goes my plan  ???

Does it sound like this?

Its too bad Scott Brown doesnt make any of the small mufflers anymore.  His 3" mufflers outflowed anything on the market except for certain Borlas at less decibels and were a fraction of the price.  All he makes know are the collector mufflers for the REALLY big motors.  But then if I could afford a Gene Fulton motor in a street car I wouldnt complain.  Best part is he is a great guy who likes his Mopars!

there is an old saying..... if it's too loud, your too old!!!!
how'd i do that!?!?!?

R2

I had the 40' series , 3 inch flowmasters on mine,,, with dumps at the axle,,,,car sounded like a top fuel funny car,,,,totally killer,,,
I did after a while,,,,start to have "drone" issues,,,especially around 30-40 MPH,,,and the sound was getting a bit loud,,,,(maybe i am getting old as well).....
I switched to the Dynomax Ultraflows....

I do miss the sound of the flowmasters at times though.....

Enjoy your car,,,sounds like you made a good purchase,,,,and it will keep you smilin while you drive it,,,thats whats important....

CB, that gave me wood. ;) I had to crank the 600 watts a side stereo Audiophile grade system and got it up to 95 dB then they sound real.

95 dB will caue hearing loss and I loved it for the time for the time the clipped lasted. Walls where shaking and wife came out to bitch at me about running the Charger in the garage. Looked funny at me when I remainded her it out of the car and Charger is sitting out side. :icon_smile_big:

You won't miss them the next time you take the Charger to the track. Just about everybody runs faster with something other than flowmasters. 493Charger improved 6 tenths by dropping the flowbastards on his car....no other changes. Most that run ultraflows go just as fast with them on as they do with open headers. Time for some muffler R&D

I likey my flowmasters on my 70 Roadrunner. I have 2.5 exhaust that run all the way to the rear bumper. I have ran close to the same ET's at the track (only about a .10) better without them.
If ya have the exhaust dump under the car they are going to sound alot louder.....easy fix....get full exhaust.
