As the air gets colder up here in CT land.  I wonder what my Mopar buddies will be doing with their Chargers?  Mine will be used as much as I can stand to sneak it out.  As of now I pull it out on weekends as during the week when I get home it's already dark.  And my baby don't do the dark thing.  To many scary things out there at night.  No gas additive for me, what are your plans and how often do you expect on taking it out.  Whats your winter weather like where you are?
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Well my plans are that next weekend my GL will be all done!  :2thumbs:  I hope to drive it alot this winter because in Arizona its way to hot and miserable 110+ in the summer. It has no A/C so it will hang out next to my 68 Coronet covered up for the summer months.  :brickwall:
I pointed to two old drunks sitting across the bar from us and told my friend
"That's us in 10 years".
He said "That's a mirror, dip-shit!

Ghoste

Update my electrical system, I have all new harnesses in it but I'm going to follow some of Nacho suggestions to make the charging system more reliable.
It'd be nice to stop the engine bleeding too.

THE COLONEL

Well, this is a good topic.  I was going to start my own on what I was going to be doing, but don't need to now.

Here are the plans for The Colonel.  I just got the call a couple hours ago to get everything set.  The Colonel will be going in to get a complete rebuild of the 318 and tranny.  The road have to dry from teh snow right now, but as soon as they do, it will be in.  It will get set for paint too, in the bay, and under the hood.  That will be all black.  The underside will be steamed cleaned to get all that 40 year old crap off of it, and the front end should get rebuilt too, along with a front disc brake conversion.  I will also be getting the grille restored too.  It has been a long time in coming, but it will be so worth it.  That is my winter plans.  It was gong to be last year, but it just didn;t work out, but finally it will happen!!! :2thumbs:

Quarter panels, subframe connectors, front and rear floors, trunk and trunk extentions, some frame repair, repair the metal under the vinyl roof, new kframe, new front end, steering box, doors, fenders....the list goes on and on. But will have to see what i can afford to do. Yea its cheaper to find a already finished 3rd gen, but i like my car regardless so i dont care, i know im never going to see any of the money i put into it come back in my pocket but i dont plan on selling the car.

I want to pretty much do a full resto, nothing crazy just new metal and some rhino liner or something similar for the under carriage so she dont rust and ill be happy. Spray the car myself...wont look amazing but will look nice. Ill get that nice paint job some other time, rather keep saving up for the 512 motor.

I'm working on assembling the 440, hope to have everything ready to install in March.  So, aquiring all the nessicary stuff I don't have.

AKcharger

Wow some of you guys are going to be busy!
Vinyl top replacement for me, I put it on back in '05 but made some goofs so taking the winter to replace it. When I pulled it up I noted some paint adhesion problems so will be a little more work that expected but I have time. I will post a complete "how to" when finished
also:
- Install AM/FM slider
- Fix pesky exhaust leak ant manifold/pipe
- Align steering wheel, when your driving it's off a bit ...very annoying
- Replace valve keepers in my stealth heads

Wow,  some great Charger stuff going on here by everyone.  Hard times or not we are all so dedicated to spending money on the loves of our lives ( outside of family of course).  It's great to see all the response's.  To be be honest when I walked over to the computer to take a peek, I was wondering how many members were thinking when I placed this thread, Oh my God 1969dodgecharger again?   :icon_smile_big:

P.s  I've been taking care of odd things during the week as it sits.  I replaced the am radio, restored the console black semi flat trim and installed the black slider piece and shifter light, painted and installed all the seat belts, and now I just ordered the headrest trim, and the biggy is looking into finding the "correct" tinted and thickness front windshield.  Next spring will be fix the heat system cables, heater core and replace the rugs. And then I'll refix this and that, and redo that and replace this and on and on and on.   :P

Rebuild the wiring harness, convert to 4 wheel disc brakes, add a couple bars to the front of the roll cage to support the coil-overs, then finish up the bodywork.

y3chargerrt

I scheduled a business trip to Dickinson College in Carlisle last week just so I could drop my woodgrain steering wheel off at Garys to be restored. I   got a new vacuum headlight hose kit for my headlights. I'll order a new headlamp harness from Bill Evans to match.I'll replace them in the spring when I pull the gauges and steering column. I'm rebuliding my steering column and installing a electronic gauge voltage regulator.

The Charger is finished, has been since 1995 so its not in need of anything, but during the winter I fire it up and drive it atleast once every two to three weeks weather permiting.
The altitude here is approx. 4500 ft. above sea level so we have snow in the winter months, and that means salt on the streets and highways, so I wait for a nice day when the streets are dry to take the Charger out.  The tires and rims pick up a little salt residue (dry) from the pavement but a bucket of hot water and a rinse with the hose takes care of that.  Its a bit of a hassle but well worth it just to get it out and go for a drive.

-Restore dash, AC heaterbox and everything underneath.
-Rewire the whole  car.
-New stereo.
-Install hydroboost.
-Straighten the fenders.
And off course I found some rust at the bottom of the windshield, so I suppose I have to break out the welder this winter too.

Belgium R/T -68

The Challenger will get a new exhaustsystem and some normal maintenance.
When I get the Charger home I will mount the suspension and other chassieparts to get it on wheels, for the rest it will be restoring the heaterbox, grille, dash and seat waiting for spring/summer getting warmer weather to mount the vinylroof.
I have to moove in the middle of it aswell so I will have work enough. ;)
