I bought one 440 today , Block casting is 2536430 casting date 11-7-69

Head casting 2843906    casting date 11-03-9

Is this a 350 hp 440 with 906 heads ? Are these heads the same as 440-6 pac ?Is this the same crank as
440 -6 What year car did this go into and what type of car ?

Thank you

Larry

Sublime/Sixpack

To the best of my knowledge with a casting date in November it would be for the 1970 model year. Did you check the pad at the left front of the engine near the intake gasket (pan) for the letters HP ? If you find an HP there, then it would have been a 375 horse engine.  Also, being a 1970 HP engine it would have the heavy rods (six pack), a steel crank and externally balanced.
906 heads came on all the '70 440 car engines.  Not sure about truck, motorhome, 440's.

How can I tell if it has 6 -pac rods ? I know it is NON HP . had restrictive ex man .

Sublime/Sixpack

If its non HP then it won't have the heavy rods.

Did I get ripped off for 400.00 ? I would like to go 30 over , bump comp to 10.25 and install hyd flat , can I get 400 hp with 906 heads ?

62 Max

At $400 you got a bargain and 400 + is easy to achive with 906 heads.
