Help me, OB1. What is a DP4B?

I have dived headfirst into the wonderful world of B block intake manifolds, and keep seeing mention of an Edelbrock DP4B. Is it something special I should embrace or something from the dark side of the force?

What RPM range is the DP4B good for?
Sixty-eights look great and the '69 is fine.

Yep, the dp4b is an excellent dual plane manifold. No longer in production but available on e-bay, swap meets etc...It makes excellent bottom end power due to the dual plane design and pulls hard up high due to the increased runner volume. Originally it was sold as a direct connection part and many had a mopar part number cast onto them. I'd say it's descent from idle to 6k.

yes, they are very good intake manifolds. it is a "b" engine version of the ch4b that was designed for the 440 engines.

and the ch4b has proven itself over and over again as also being a very good all round intake.

gezz, you would think since it was a great intake design the manufactures would have stayed with it. :rotz:

Looks like I'm on the right path. Thanks for the response, folks.

Is it greatly different from the Performer RPM?

Heap rope, I have one on the 383 in the Cuda :2thumbs: says it all.

Ghoste, I have never ran the  Performer RPM intake so I cannot help you on that one.

It's about 6 inches shorter than the RPM! Well... maybe not quite that much, but it's only about 3/4" taller than stock.

It's probably closer related to the Performer than the Performer RPM. Good piece though. I ran one on my 451 and wound it to 6000 rpm on more than a few occasions. Pulled noticibly better than the stock CI or M1 DP.

im sure the rpm is a better manifold,  the problem with the rpm is the height and then you have to deal with the throttle bracket and kickdown cable, wereas thats not a problem with the dp4b. the dp4b is a much nice piece than the performer.  i swaped a dp4b out for a torker several years ago on my 383 and i gained less than a tenth. that was a 484 mopar cam, 3310 holley motor runing mid 13s at the time.
